So, the team is bad, or at least underachieving. We cant blame the old GM, because he made some good moves. We cant blame the new GM, because despite the rampant rumors of a probable buyout, he had no idea how bad Umberger would be. We cant blame the coach, because he can only play the guys he has. Finally, when a player gets blamed, hes not the problem or isnt a core player.

I don't know if this market, (or ownership, fanbase), would allow him to be as patient as he wishes to be. - puckhead17
That's a reasonable question. I want Hextall to make the right moves, not just any move. The Flyers in the past would make any move they could that they thought would help them win now. That's great if you win now, but if you don't. Then it can cost you.

Nice post, but you're wasting your breath on that one. His narrow personal perspective is the only valid truth he'll accept. - Tomahawk
I noticed, honestly is he just trolling?
His response to any evidence contrary to his preconceived opinion can be summed up as
"That's impossible.... because I don't like it"
The idea that hockey being a team game precludes anyone from reasonably evaluating an individual's contribution to that team it silly. Its just a red herring because he hates the stats being used in the discussion.

And Giroux wasn't going to be worth his contract extension, either.

Hexy has to and will do something at this point. Firing the coach might not sit well with some and a desperation trade will sit well with none. Honestly I'd start with whoever is running the PK. You can absolve Berube of a lot of blame but the PK has everything it needs to succeed and it is an absolute tire fire. - hereticpride

By the way,
Welcome!
Even if the team sucks we still have the best blogger here and a knowledgeable fan base here even if we go around and around on the same stuff.
I hope you stick around.

I've been hesitant to say this but I think terry Murray could come in and breathe some life into this mess and squeeze a playoff birth then an advance a round in the playoffs if Mason could get hot but we're gonna need another capable goal scorer... Maybe simmonds or somebody can start getting consistent. - JoeRussomanno

Nothing to do with what I don't like, or hate. It has to do with common sense, and a sound knowledge of the game of hockey. Where you got the idea that hockey being a team game precludes anyone from reasonably evaluating an individuals contribution to the team from, is mind boggling. What I'm against is using team numbers and arbitrarily applying them to an individual player. If we want to talk about red herrings, the article I linked to written by Staples is well thought out and well written. But you just dismissed it and post a jif of homer simpson!

Not at all. All of them share in some of the blame. The problem comes when they get blamed for everything they've done. And the good that they've done is completely ignored. Such as the criticism you offer towards Berube. Which is pretty much every move is the wrong move. - MJL
when the bad outweighs the good, you get blamed, period. homer's bad offsets his good and so far hextall has done more bad than good, same for berube, hence the team we see. |

I disagree Joe. The bad doesn't outweigh the good for any of them. As far as the NHL team is concerned, Hextall has only made a handful of moves. The two major moves are he traded for Umberger, and signed Del Zotto.

the delzotto move doesnt offset the the umberger move... im not saying we're doomed with hextall but so far his grade as gm is borderline D imo |

Powe is signed to an AHL contract. With a little over 1.1 to deal with, not sure they want to sign him to an NHL deal as a 4th liner.
