I know he is a center. He is also a forward. Does that mean he can't be a power forward?
I also understand not every player can be finesse but I can request more skill. Without the off-ice stuff would you take Evander Kane or Simmonds. Devante Smith Pelly or Simmonds? I think both guys give you grit but have more natural skill set then Simmonds.
The thing I like about Detriot is their smaller skill guys still seem to mix it up and can score dirty goals. - J35Bacher
My thinking was that if the Flyers don't have Simmonds, they lack size and grit on the wing. They may give you more skill, but look at the production. I agree that the Flyers need some more speed and skill added to the lineup. But I think they have some players who can develop and add that skill, that are already here. |

Read and Coburn for Evander Kane. Do it!
Relieves cap while bringing in speed and scoring. If Hexy is thinking long term than if I'm him I deal Coburn while I still can. |

I don't think Chevy would do that (even putting his refusal to do literally anything aside) |

Well... these are the following synonyms for the word Literally.
exactly, precisely, actually, really, truly
So I reiterate. Dealing Simmonds would LITERALLY leave this team with no heart, snarl or physicality |

Sounds good. Let's call up Anaheim and tell them we're taking Getzlaf for Simmonds. - jmatchett383
Yeah.
But I think a guy like Devante Smith Pelly would be nice. Matt Beleksy. Hell I wouldn't mind trying to get Brent Burns and moving him back to wing. He was a monster on the wing. |

I don't see skilled player when I look at Simmonds at least in the context in which everyone here views a skilled player. Which is a guy who can snipe and stickhandle. Simmonds is a plugger with good hands around the net who has toughness.
SO yes, good hands is his skill, but he isn't a great speedster or have many of the other qualities when most people talk about a skilled player.
Moving Couturier to wing is just silly. - MBFlyerfan
Saying Simmonds has good hands can also be misconstrued. He has good net front finishing touch. He is terrible when he tries to skate with the puck..
With that being said he did show some silky mitts early in the season. I don't know where that came from, or more frustratingly, where it went? |

He's definitely been a part of the solution more so than about 60% of the team. I don't think I'd hand out a long-term, big-dollar deal (I'd prefer 2 years at $2.5M-$3M max), but keeping him would be okay with me. - jmatchett383
If you think Kimmo is done than you can use his 2M on him for 2 years and I think that is a good bridge to see what is really there... |

Also don't forget that Laughton is a glorified grinder with no puckhandling skill that is really a 4th liner. |

This is why I SPECIFICALLY said good hands around the net. So that there would be no misconstruing. I guess I still failed. |

I think there's no way Kimmo plays again. He said this season was his last, and he has no reason to ever play again.
But if we can sign MDZ for $2M per/2 years, I'm down. |

Yeah, good hands from a standstill. Not so much in full flight.
But (frank) his puck skill... what he does in front of the net can't be replaced. |

I'm just saying that one shift/game/series shouldn't be a reason where a player is a captain (short of Bobby Clarke in Game 2 of the 1974 SCF). - jmatchett383
I think he gets a raw deal overall. He's such a good player and does everything he can to help this team win. I literally can't think of anything else he can do to make this team better. He takes more face offs than any other player in hockey, he plays on the PK a lot over the last few years, he scores at a pace unmatched over the last 4 years, he's the major reason the power play is always in the top 10 (top 5 most years) and he's the primary reason this team hasn't fallen apart since the Richards carter trades.
he seems to treat the media pretty well and has always been a good sport about fan obligations like autographs and such.
The national and local media constantly criticizes him for things he can't control. I just don't know what more people want from him. It's like they want him to be the super bobby Gretzky Clark Foppa. |

I don't know exactly how a deal would work. I was more trying to express the type of player i would like and they were the first two that came to mind.
