Umberger-Giroux-Read
Schenn-Couturier-Voracek
Raffl-Laughton-Simmonds
Bellmare-Lecavalier-Rinaldo
See if Giroux can kick start both Read and Umby and if Voracek can kick start Coots. I dont want Lecavalier anywhere near the top 3 lines. - mochoson
Read maybe, but Dr. Frankenstein would have a tough time jump starting Umberger. |

Anisimov out 2-3 months w/ torn triceps... guess that Perron deal ain't happening after all. - Tomahawk

I know this is just humor and I'm not singleing you out cause everyone calls him Corpseburger here, but I think the guy is struggling to play with an injury or a herniated disc in his back.
It takes heart to try and play through pain.
I expect the outcome at some point is he will go on LTIR.
He was a very competitive player for the Flyers in his last stint with the team.
I honestly feel bad for the guy. I think he is trying but just can't play well anymore.
I do not in anyway absolve the team for trading for him, but that isn't his doing. - Marc D
I am sure it does take heart to play through pain but if he is hurt he shouldn't be playing ...bottom line. Especially this late in his career., he shouldn't risk a more severe injury. He was a competitive player with the Flyers 7 years ago. I just think he is cooked, as he sure as hell is playing like it |

Trade for Hartnell.
And this pretty much fulfills my daily post quota. Until 12/13 anyway.
Enjoy. |

Much like RJ Umberger, but for $4mm a year less - Jsaquella
Or we could have gone with Blake Comeau, Patrick Eaves, Jack Skille, etc. |

Ditto. Said he could play up and down the roster. MJL thought that was hilarious. |

Well, if this turns out to be the case I would be even more angry with Umberger. If you are hurt get off the ice, you are absolutely useless out there.

Comeau's had a good year offensively too with 14 points in 22 games although he's played on a line with Malkin most of the season. |

trade us umberger? - nastyflyergirl
No, they dared to take the mighty Pittsburgh Penguins to 6 games, much like the 08/09 Philadelphia Flyers. Their only hope to make it this year is to acquire Michael Leighton for a magical run to the SCF. |

I'm convinced anyone that says it's time to change out Giroux as captain hasn't been paying attention. - johndewar
I honestly have no idea what more that player can do for the Philadelphia Flyers. I truly don't.
He"s the best hockey player this team has had, from the start of his career, since Eric Lindros. The Flyers have a long and rich history, filled with very good players, and Giroux is easily in the Top 5 players this franchise has ever produced.
I don't even know what else he can do for them. They can't even score a goal without he and Voracek. |

I don't think you understand my position then. I'm not in favor of trading any player, just to get picks and prospects. I'm in favor of making trades because it makes the team better. And that trade would be made even if this team was a current contender. I'm not in favor of a fire sale just because the team is currently struggling. The Flyers just can't add a bunch of young defenseman to the lineup., and hope they all develop. There still needs to be a veteran presence on the defense. And the two I see are Coburn, and MacDonald, aloing with Del Zotto if he continues to progress.
I would be willing to include one oof the young defense prospects in a trade, for one kind of player only. That is a still fairly young established top defenseman. I would also include MacDonald and Coburn if I had to, to get that player.
You just want to pawn off Coburn for whatever you can think of. I'm not in favor of that. I'd want an established asset for Coburn, because quality defenseman are at a premium. - MJL

True. But I am hard-pressed to think of anyone else on this roster who plays against the competition he does, produces, yet still has his ability to lead questioned.
Sometimes, being a leader is producing when your team needs it. Not being called on the carpet because he hasn't inspired Matt Read to score an ES goal in a month |

Nice article, as always, Bill.
Happy belated Thanksgiving, everyone. Happy VERY belated Thanksgiving, everyone living in Canada. Either way, we sure are getting more than our share of turkey from the Flyers this (urp!) season. Excuse me.
Sadly, there aren't enough guys putting biscuits in the basket and the one-line-deep team is floundering (Mmm, flounder...).
Enjoy your Cyber Monday! |

If we could take Rinaldo's wheels, Vinny's hands, and RJ's defensive ability, I think you'd have a good hockey player.
