It's obvious Lecavalier and Umberger aren't a fit here and hold no real value but of the following names, who of the young would you trade get help?
A) Sean Couturier
B) Brayden Schenn
C) Matt Read
D) Michael Raffl - SuperSchennBros
Any of them in the right deal. At the deadline. Nobody except the corpses or bad contracts for now. |

D) Michael Raffl - SuperSchennBros
A) Sean Couturier-only trading for fair value and one of RJ/Vinny being included in the deal.
B) Brayden Schenn-LW is our weakest spot on the roster. I dont see the point in moving him at the moment.
C) Matt Read- I would take offers. His offense is down for whatever reason and if it doesn't show signs of returning I would look to get out of the contract. Two way 3rd line wingers can be had for cheaper.
D) Michael Raffl- How much value does he actually have? I think you'd only get a 2nd rounder for him until he proves more. |

I think your assessment is more then fair. In the right deal I think I could regrettably part with one of Read or Raffl but I cannot deal Couturier or Schenn. I just can't. |

The only way I include either Schenn or Couturier in a deal is for an established, younger then 30 top pair two way defenseman. Otherwise, I'm not dealing them.
My personal opinion is that Read is a player that is more valuable to keep, then the return you'd get for him in a trade.

I don't disagree with you at all but if it came down to moving one of the three, much like when we had Richards, Carter and Umberger at one time, Umberger would have been the kid I would have parted with then and Read is the kid I'd part with now. |

With all the D men in the system I think the moving Schenn or Coots for D men ship has sailed. If Schenn does develop into a good LW I think he's safe. Coots is an interesting situation. Given everything going on between Vinny, Laughton stepping into the 2nd line C role and Coots having a rough go of it... it's really a tough situation to judge. |

If they want a goal scorer I'd go Zacha but Marner isn't far behind even though he's more of a pass first player (kind of what they have now) Hell a lot of close together for me. |

back in the day, teams seemed to stay as a team for long periods of time. then money got crazy and players became mercenaries, moving about at will with a lot of turnover from what year to the next making consistency and team identity harder to come by. then the cap came along in name of cost control and parity, and it's essentially hamstrung teams when the realize they've got rotten eggs like the flyers have right now.
instead of being able to jettison players in a variety of ways to in an effort to make them as competitive as possible, they're basically (frank)ed. you really can't just get rid of guys without penalizing your team in terms of cap space. so unless you find the perfect players for the perfect contract who perform as expected, you're stuck if they poop the bed. it's a really terrible byproduct of the cap and i can't (frank)ing stand it. |

My view is that none of those are guarantees. For the right established player, I'd move one of them. I honestly don't see the right player becoming available though.
As far as Couturier, what I think of him hasn't changed one bit. I think he's going to mature, and get better and better. And he's going to be a key player on this team for years to come. As long as he stays here.
