Really? I swear I cant see the dude scoring except on PP. - flyer_nutter
I know, it sure seems like it. Still, for as great as he was on the PP and having a 60 point season 36 points at ES as a full time 2nd liner is not exactly killing it. If he's playing with Coots I want a high skill guy at LW. |

I'm not ready to break up G and Jake. I'd rather B Schenn move back with Coots and Read and bring Raffl up to the first line again. - Just5
That's OK, except Read has been pretty damn bad this season. Him and Coots aren't Bert & Ernie - they don't HAVE to play on the same line. |

Not making it up. In comparison, Voracek had 39 ES points last year, playing with Giroux compared to 36 for Simmonds. Ovechkin and Bobby Ryan had 39 ES point in comparison. And keep in mind that Simmonds put up those numbers last season, not playing on a top line with top line playmakers. He put those numbers up playing on the 2nd line. If the Flyers could get a solid playmaker to play with Simmonds, he could produce even more. He's struggling right now, like a lot of players are. But he's a better ES player then given credit for.

You jump a guy like Crouse or Strome into top 3 or 4? - Jsaquella
Strome should be Crouse is just on the outside of that right now for me. But I do like his game. |

yeah. i think he was overpaid a bit. but i thought jokinen would have been a good fit for your second line. - stayinthefnnet
Would have been good in shootouts, too, but Vinny's contract was in the way. |

That ES total was ties for 20th among all RW in the NHL last year. As a 2nd line winger, that ES total is killing it.

What you have to consider is that a lot of teams have internal budgets which is what keeps them from spending up to the cap. Not that they're so much better then the Flyers or any other team is in managing the Cap. It seems there is a lot of misconceptions that the Flyers are the only team that has to maneuver around the cap. And I think some fans really still can't grasp the philosophy of it. Such as always saying that team that is up against the cap, is in cap hell. - MJL
Most teams in the league have the financial resources and the green light to spend to the cap every year. |

Fair enough.
I'm still not a fan of pairing him with Coots without another big playmaker. It's no secret Simmonds gets a lot of his points by tip-ins and deflections. Those rely heavily on the other two guys getting pucks there. Until Coots starts putting more rubber on net I think it's a bit of a miss-match, or as I've said, an incomplete line without another playmaker on it. |

That is false. Less then half the team will likely spend to the cap.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand your point, and absolutely agree with it. If they're going to keep Giroux and Voracek together, they need another playmaker. Preferably a LW.

Why is it false? Just because they don't spend to the cap, doesn't mean they're not able to right? Who has more money than the Habs? Not many teams. They are 15th in spending. |

I wonder if getting Skinner out of Carolina would come any easier than getting Eberle out of EDM. I know he's had concussion issues but I would still inquire. |

Habs are only one team. Answer this, why is there so much objection to the cap floor going up? Lots of teams have internal budgets that keep them under. If GM's had carte blanche to spend what they want, they would.

Trying to find out who the Flyers will trade Conner Macdavid for - Winning
Realistically if we had the 1st overall we would be much better off trading it and making whoever trades for it take on one or two bad contracts along with it.
Imagine if we had the 1st overall and Buffalo was picking 3rd. We could air-drop Vinny and RJ over Niagara Falls and still Buffalo would take em. |

Thank you. And to get my point across further. That ESPN media poll that says that Mason isn't in the top 25 goalies in the NHL, is a load of crap! - MJL
I still don't see the connection, but ok. |

The connection between what? Not sure why you're looking for a connection. It's about if someone reads an opinion given by a hockey media member that agrees with their opinion, they see it as fact. But if a media source gives an opinion that they don't agree with, on a player they like, they dismiss it. Such as most did with the ESPN poll that rated Mason out of the top 25 among NHL goalies. It was rebuked. Not saying it was wrong to do so, because I thought it was crap.
Then the sarcastic reply came that Ferraro played 1200 NHL games, blah, blah, blah, so he must know what he's talking about. And that's given just because Ferraro's comments supported their opinion. As if playing those games makes his opinion infallible.
My counter to that is the guy who traded for and signed him was an NHL player, an NHL coach, Player Personel director, Asst NHL GM, and GM. So is his opinion on the player infallible also because of his experience level?
Of course we know that neither is infallible. |

LOL. Why would we want Niemi? A goalie who is an expiring UFA who is making 3.8M? That is an absolutely awful trade.
