Just watching the TB-NYR game. Anyone of their D will activate at any time in the offensive zone. It's a shame about Coburn. Never seen a player that can skate so well have basically zero instincts in the offensive zone, next to zero ability to crank out an accurate one timer, such a reluctance to skate the puck in the zone and try and create once he's there. Grossman is a better passer and finisher than he is if he can get himself in the offensive zone. It's a shame about Coburn - Just5
Every once in a while when the Flyers are getting nothing going you see Coburn swoop in out of nowhere and go end to end with the puck, and no one on the ice can stop him. I don't know why he never plays like that outside of those random instances.
I agree about his shot though. You should see him at the skate zone. 4ft high or 8ft wide right every damn time. |

Only saw Hanifin once, saw Ekblad for 2 years, because of that I go Ekblad. - ob18
I've heard people who've watched both say that Hanifin comes out ahead based on skating and offensive upside. He's gotta back that up with his play, tho. |

Coburn's first full season, he scored 9 goals and 27 assists for 36 points. Pretty decent offensive numbers. The following season 7 goals and 21 assists. His offensive game dwindled from there. It seemed like he was coached to become less of a two way defenseman, to concentrate on becoming a defensive stay at home type. He had that ability when he was younger. Where did it go? |

I wouldn't doubt it, if he's there should they pick that high he's a no brainer, I am going with their luck thinking they'll pick in the 5 - 8 range if things continue. |

76ers or Flyers for battle of the worst team in Pa - Winning
hurts to do it, but ill nominate the phillies.
they have 0 plan. the sixers do at least. the flyers at least have a good bit of pieces in the system.
and the contracts that the phils have to deal with make vinnyburger seem like coupon savings |

I hear ya, but at the moment I gotta go with the Sixers. The Flyers may already have more wins than the Sixers get all season!
However, long term, the Phils are a cluster(frank) |

haha it made me die a little inside.
dark skies ahead with no end in sight. baseball takes perhaps the longest to rebuild, and the team hasnt even realized they need to do that yet |

I think they realize it, or they wouldn't be shopping Hamels. They tried to extend those sell outs as long as they could. The hardest thing to do in sports is break it up before it's too late. They take a big PR hit and lose attendance if they walk away and hadn't resigned players like Howard and Utley.

At least the Sixers are currently bottoming out. The Phillies have yet to really embrace how bad they are. |

Crouse, Strome and Zacha intrigue me because they all have size, but decent mobility. Zacha also has that Ivan Drago hair style that makes him look like a Bond Villian in training |

Right now, the only guys too valuable to move are Giroux and Voracek.
They have to avoid making a desperation trade. I'd rather see them make a few tweaks in the line up(split up Giroux and Voracek), bury the players who are anchors & slide up Bellemare to the top 9, split the defensive load carried by Couturier & Read between the top 3 lines, re-emphasize the focus on simple, smart play and see where they are in another month or two.
Splitting Giroux and Voracek should give them two lines that can be dangerous. Taking the defensive onus off Couturier and giving him more opportunity and perhaps a guy like Voracek on his wing should help his confidence while at the same time seeing how Laughton handles more responsibility. Rework the 2nd PP unit and PK units giving more responsibility to guys who are part of the future.
Shifting the focus back to simple, solid fundamentals will help a lot. Work on the outlet passing and focus on moving the puck smartly. Stop the weak blue line play both on offense and defense. Far too many dump ins when the Flyers have the puck and the blue line is given up far too easily when they don't.
What it boils down too is, there are things that can be changed, internally, before risking a trade where the other team either knows the Flyers are dealing from a position of weakness or is another team trying to shake up their situation. - Jsaquella

true. the sixers are absolutely awful. but they want to be, so in a way, thats a measurable form of success.
the phillies have no such ambitions. they just currently have no future. i dont hate them for it. they won a title. they doubled down on an old team and sold the farm one too many times and now must pay the piper. i still think they made a couple tactical errors during their run that really hurt them, but thats the past now. i just wish theyd open their eyes and get this thing started. i have no problem waiting a few years for it to be done right. |

i also really dont trust the current brass to have the ability to sell of the players they do have for proper value and then conduct a proper rebuild. |
