I wonder how many D-men with cap hits equal to or higher than MacDonald have been healthy scratches this year... - PLindbergh31
I do give Berube credit for benching him and now LeCavalier. Really happy to see that.
Now if only Hextall had the balls trade Happy Meal. Not sure if there will be any takers but should be easier than unloading Wheels or 18. Think they are stuck with those two unless a buy-out happens. I think LeCavalier is heading toward a buy-out if not RJ as well. |

Probably be akin to 2003, with the # of players who could jump right in. Most guys will still need 1-2 seasons, tho, but will be well worth the wait. - Tomahawk
Damn that was one rich draft, especially the first round.

Yes. Yes he was. And that's why he was benched. I thought this was common knowledge.

I am probably the only one but I think Rinaldo on the Couturier line will be fine. That lines always seems to play better when it has someone with a little grit on the wing. Downie and schenn previously. Maybe getting Couturier and Read back to keeping things simple. Chip puck in, get in on forcheck, create chances off digging and board battles.
I am not saying Rinaldo will turn this line into an offensive juggarnaut but maybe getting back to the simple things and just getting littles wins(having dz starts end in the oz, keeping top line hemed in own zone) will start to bring confidence back. - J35Bacher
hopefully, and in theory i agree... but downie is a much better player than rinaldo |

Crouse, Strome and Kylington might be able to step right in, after McDavid & Eichel. - Jsaquella
So the Flyers will pick # 6? |

I think we can be sure Umburgler will be bought out. That may have been the plan all along for all we know.
The cap penalty and signing a decent 2 million per replacement who should be able to provide even better production would still save you significant cap space.

That Richards, Carter and what seemed to be Lupul/Upshall/Harts were too focused on partying and not enough on playing hockey? |

Nooo! You know what they say about pictures being worth like 3 billion words!
What a mess this team is. The way things are going, If I'm Berube, no way in hell I send G out on a pk the rest of the season. I watch him get down to try to block shots once in a while and cringe every single time. |

I will say, I do think 18 can be a good enough fourth line guy. Well at the very least/best a warm body there. Not sure Hextall wants to have the club look even more foolish, or himself for that matter by buying him out.
I get the anger toward that trade but I still make it if its the best available deal there was at the time. The salary cap savings once Umberger is done and Hartnell is still being paid will be beneficial. |

Does Hextall have the balls to make any trade..after being fleeced on the Zombie deal. Do you think any one would take Happy Meal off our hands? It would be interesting to see what would be offered..somehow I don't think it would be much.

I was kidding. You said earlier that Vinny was practically benched because he didn't play much last game. I'm taking the position there is a big difference between being dressed and not playing much versus being in the stands in street clothes eating chicken wings and drinking ridiculously expensive domestic beer. Lucky for Vinny he's earning insane amounts of cash for every game so he can afford it. |

You're right, the hyperbole in your post does sound familiar. I remember when Mark Streit was signed, how you went on and on what a bad signing that was, and how bad of a defenseman he was. |

Pour moi, I think they are stuck with MacDonald unless they take another questionable player/contract back.
Maybe Edmonton. Have to pray. |

If this is going to be a season like 06-07 you certainly want a top 2 pick. Not sure based on 1/4 season if it's going to go that way, but it doesn't look good. |

No, I mean it was nonsense in the sense that Laviolette asked his players to cool it on the drinking, which is reasonable but the players declined which is also reasonable.
Fast forward to today, Lecavalier is getting benched for wearing street clothes and eating Nachos? Bench him for not playing well, not for having a snack. |
