It happens way more in hockey and football than other sports. I've actually never been in a sports related fight other than pushing and shoving with close friends. I've never really been in any legit fight
- PhillySportsGuy

I would venture to say high school soccer rivals them. My brother had as many fights as clean sheets in high school, as a goalie, because of how often he was run. Eventually, in his 20's, he got smarter and put pads on to play hockey goalie instead while I played RW.

Tier II he started in Reading, moved to Valley Forge and this year he's playing Major Midgets with the Quakers in West Chester. He plays Varsity for Downingtown West.

He likes to be called jr moat.

- mayorofangrytown

Ahhhh Downingtown. I played Warwick, of course I graduated in 2011, but I remember playing non league games against them.

My buddy played Quakers. Decent enough organization. Can't complain for a local major midget team ya know?

I loved playing Reading though. Those were league games. They were fun. Mechanicsburg games got nasty too. Hated those guys. Reading and Mechanicsburg games were always close though. That's why they were so fun.

I'll say that 4 of us did pretty well, one dude was busy yelling "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!" while this fat Puerto Rican chased him around. Yes, that really happened.

Long story short, I gave a dude a shot, he took a 2-handed baseball swing at my head (a grown man versus a 15-year-old) and my friend came out looking for blood. Dude said, "What are you gonna do?" so my friend beat the piss out of him, then started on another dude and just got piled on to. I ended up more or less fighting 2 guys. Thing is, we were so much better skaters than them that we could actually handle ourselves okay. But still, at a certain point...

Speaking of getting run, I got my 2nd conky from a forearm to the face. Gained the red line right in front of the ref's half circle, dumped it in to change, took 2 cross over strides as my bench was behind me, BOOM

I was on the ice with about 20 skates around me, praying I wasn't stepped on. Since it happened right in front of our box, my teammate jumped out and decked the kid and started beating him senseless. He got him good.

I bought him some wawa after I was a normal, non concussed human again.

That is the very, VERY abridged version. There's a lot more back story, and a lot more that happened in the middle.

I played high school soccer and never saw one. I never saw it escalate past pushing or yelling.

Maybe I didn't play sports with angry enough people. I was the mayor of tranquil town

Man, I kinda miss the good old days when I was young playing hockey and stuff would get out of hand. I'll admit I was a little instigator at times, but looking back, it was fun. Especially since my team seemed to always come out on the winning side of the fights.

If that's it for 12 years, that's damn good. I'd have lost my poop in the situations you described, and maybe even a few more than that.

I'm lucky that my kid grew fast and stayed big. Most of his troubles came because he played middle School in 5th grade and they requested he play Bantam instead of Peewee so he had 4 yrs of Bantam.

Mostly the aggrieved parents have been on the opposition. Since he was 10 I've heard him called everything under the sun. Two weeks ago I heard a parent call him the dirtiest player in the league. He had 14 PiMs at the time in 8 games. Of course at that moment he was more than doubling them in two minutes.

It's so easy for parents to get angry and turn the player who checks their kid into some kind of heartless monster. I've done it and learned early on that it's just the emotion talking. The kid's going to go home and baby sit his sister, play ball with his dog and watch hockey with his dad. He's just a kid.

I never really was in the middle of things either. I'd be the guy pulling people off each other yelling WHAT THE (frank) ARE YOU DOING? IS THIS GOING TO HELPS US SCORE (frank)ING GOALS?!

I, however, would run my mouth A LOT and goad guys into crosschecking me in the throat after the goalie would cover the puck. I wouldn't fight back, and they'd get a penalty, and I'd skate passed laughing.

Man, a lot of people hated me for that.

I drew A LOT of penalties

I can't get parents yelling at kids in general. Coaches, refs, etc. are one thing, but these are just kids. Like I said, I had some parents yell at me for destroying one of their kids (it was borderline clean, I'll admit), so I fired a puck at their face. This was roller hockey, so there was no glass separating the rink. Shame my slapper was incredibly slow.

In the same instance, my one friend (the one who was chased by the Puerto Rican) was getting his ass handed to him one time, and his black belt karate mom jumped in to pull them apart. It was incredibly embarassing for the entire team.

If you'd done that to me, you'd get the PP, but you wouldn't be laughing at the end of it. I was a guy who was perfectly fine take a 5 late in a game when the score was already decided. And I'd do it when you weren't expecting it, either.

My dad was working the clock one day, and after the game he goes "GiG, I grew up in North philly, and then moved to South Philly in middle school. You know this. But I heard you say things I've never heard before. Nice work."

I was a basketball player and I was never much of a talker. I was pretty calculated with cheap shots though. An elbow when the ref wasn't looking or a hard foul that made a point but didn't cross the line was my kind of thing.

Nice.

I wasn't an idiot though. I always knew I more or less had a target. I'd protect myself. I was a good skater too, so that always helped.

I know there are some things you can't protect against though. I get really (frank)ed up a few times. Everyone does
