He goes from being unable to elevate puck on breakaway to playing matador on Nieto's play

When a team is floundering as a whole as the Flyers are, not many players are immune to sitting out. Del Zotto along with most of the players on the team, was not playing as well as he can, and his game was slipping. He is not undeserving of being scratched. When you have 8 defenseman, and a team that isn't playing well. Competition for ice time is not a bad thing.

His play had slipped, for sure. But he was far from their worst player, and honestly, if you didn't have guys who were immune from benchings (Grossmann, Coburn, Streit), maybe it wouldn't be a big deal.
