Those 3 Blues teams did have an amazing collection of vets such as Dic kie Moore, Jean-Guy Talbot,Doug Harvey,Glen Hall,Al Arbour and more - Alexzanki
Scotty Bowman was watching a Montreal Canadien Alumni practice and decided those guys would be good enough in the expansion conference.

Why doesn't Marty just hang it up? It makes me sad to see arguably the best goalie in the history of the game donning any other sweater. - Emperor Filonius
It's gonna look weird. Like seeing Bobby Orr in a Hawks sweater, Pete Rose in an Expo uniform, Johnny Unitas in a Charger uni.
I also expect Lou Lamorillo to cry tampering and the Blues to have to forfeit two first round draft picks..

Would Bylsma bring Malkin, Crosby with him to Philly?
He's a very overrated coach. |

Yeah Sharks don't need a goalie........ we're going to try and move Nemo by the trade deadline. Stalock is the better goaltender. |

Hes not going to play much relax he is an extra goalie coach for Allen and he might play 8-10 games - sycsam
St Louis can't afford Marty to play 8-10 games unless they are fine with playing Chicago again in the first round. |

Philly and San Jose wont do anything. Both are clubs committed to rebuilding. Wilson is trying to deal away Thornton and Marleau and has stated they are not a cup contender.
On Philly side Hextall has said that his philosophy is on young players and that he won't trade those peices to make the team better short term.
If any deals are done for these teams it is to improve in the future |

You do realize that those flyer players helped eliminate the pens with Danny boy. Bylsma to me is an upgrade over Berube! - twpguy
While an upgrade to Berube, Bylsma is not a guy I want to see coach this team. It would be a step backwards, and I don't see how the current Flyers team, as constructed, can play the type of hockey the Pens played under him. He just isn't a good fit.
I want fresh blood on the team....time for the coach to be part of the long term plan.....not just the "best" guy available.
There is no quick fix, no coach change, no trade that will correct this team this year. The contracts have royally screwed the team, and they will pay it for the next couple of years.
The Flyers need:
2 top 6 forwards, need to drop most of the defence, one way or another. The only current dman I would keep is Del Zotto....maybe Schultz...just because he is cheap, signed for this year, and need the body. The rest can just go. Take what you can.
The Flyers need a top line winger, at least 2 second liners, a third liner. The fourth line is good.
This is going to take years to fix, not a few weeks. I expected a rough year this year, and don't get the "forward depth" that many "experts" seem to think we have.
Buy out Lecavalier, who is a healthy scratch in San Jose tonight, at the end of the year. He'll cost about $2.5 per but just get rid of him.
It's rough times in Flyerland. |

Bylsma is not a good coach; taking over the most talented team in league and then winning a cup is an accolade, sure, but that squad was on a mission after they appeared to be faltering up to Therrien's firing.
Disco Dan has had sub-par results since then. Not sure why people hold this guy up in such high regard. |

Relax people. Marty will be gone by the new year. Once Elliott is back they will either cut him or trade him. Gives him a legit shot to play for a while and audition for other teams. |

$700k is a lot of money for 8-10 games. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays 20-25. |

The Flyers are right where they ought to be. They barely made the playoffs last year, then traded away a top line winger/heart and soul, and lost their best defenseman. They just aren't that good of a team. Only you, Ek and, maybe, the Philly Phanatic thought otherwise. |
