My belief is that while the entire organization is completely flawed, the biggest flaw in this entire machine is......EAKINS.

He needs to go now. I want you all to do a favor and watch some post game comments from last year from Eakins, and note how many times you feel he's doing one of the following:

1. Making excuses for goals, citing "puck luck" or "bounces"
2. Making excuses for players
3. Making ridiculous statements such as "The perfect game is NO HITS"
4. Saying things like "that's going to happen."
5. Looking like he's about to cry uncontrollably

Now, I want you to watch some post games and interviews with Mike Keenan, yes, THAT Mike Keenan. He's coaching (and winning) in Magnitorosk right now. (PS: Replace Mike Keenan with any coach who has had success leading MEN and winning.

I'm not saying we need Keenan, however, once you've done what I've suggested, then you will begin to understand why we have "mopey" players with a losing attitude. He's not a man's man, and is DEFINITELY not a man's leader. He may be a great fit for the AHL, but this experiment has run it's course.

It starts with the coach. This team can win.

Just not with Eakins. He's the core problem. Full Stop.

I disagree. We were winning games against the east, and steadily improving. Then somewhere along the way, things went south. It's just a theory, anyways.

Here's something, Mike Keenan once made a player stay out for a 7 minute shift because he stayed out for seconds longer than Keenan's limit. He made the players on the bench hold shut the gate so he couldn't get back in.

He went on to score on that seven minute shift, and never went over his time limit again.

Ok, good blog, but a long time coming. Leadership starts at the top as we all know. I expressed my disappointment at the MacT hiring and my concerns only grew when he hired another rookie coach. Boy, have we paid the price. Rookies in key positions in the midst of a rebuild are not what this Team needed. Our prima donna young core have been told that they're the greatest things since sliced bread most of their lives and have run roughshod like teens with a substitute teacher ever since. Excuses being made for them, not losing ice time for repeated mistakes, etc. as you've stated. We've taken 2 steps back and we're a long ways from being able to attain respectability.
I've always said this team needs a firm plan to go forward but it didn't involve trading away Nuge or Hall. At this point I'm more in favour of blowing it all up, waiting until the trade deadline to make the best possible deals with our best players and start again, but this time with an experienced NHL GM & Coach. Don't trade away the #1 either as it could turn out to be 1 or 2.
I'm just so damned frustrated like most Fans are.
