He will do anything you want baby - Oilfan19
I like him, and hes going to be a sneaky under rated signing for some team at UFA. If you can lock that guy up b/w 4-5m, its going to pay off later in that contract.
But if he cant play his off hand, he isn't going to be taking EJs or Barries spot in the Top 4 for RHS. |

The only pieces that I would absolutely not move is Hall, 2015 1st and possibly Nuge. The rest can be had for the right price. Jultz would be a great 2nd line winger if he had P. Bergeron on his line - Oilfan19
I think that having players you "absolutely" wouldn't move is a problem though. Everybody has to be available.
Malkin for Hall, 2015 first, Klef/Nurse. Would you do it? |

Malkin and Jarry for Hall/ 2015 1st?
My point was more showing that nobody is off limits in my eyes. That includes Crosby for the right price. |

What deal does Mact have right now that makes them better? - Iggysbff
Look, I understand we don't have a leg to stand on in any deal and there might not be anything available. But what I'm saying is enough with "oooh our young core is going to be great in a few years." It's obvious this core wont work. We tried it, these guys are done with putting in a solid effort. Time for us to try something new. And I am sooo (frank)ing sick of Eakins post game "Im proud of our effort tonight, I think we did alot of things well, our fans are so unclassy and hurt our feelings." You lost 7-1, there was no (frank)ing effort. |

Hall, Connor Mcdavid, Nurse for Malkin? No. It fills one hole and gives us 2 more |

Anything's possible. We can only guess who's unmotivated and who isn't, but it doesn't look like RNH and Hall are unmotivated from their on-ice play.
As for Schultz, the guy never got any chance to be sheltered. He went from 0 to top pairing in less than half a season. No wonder he struggles. If a team/management took care of him, there would be a player there. - Morris
With Hall it's not a matter of being unmotivated , but I can see him being a poopy pants, and. But of a Primdona. |

This 100%. Schultz can still be a great Offensive dman if paired with a #1 shutdown guy. - Oilfan19
Or, Andrew Ference on the 2nd/3rd pairing for the next year and a half with prime confidence-building PP time. |

That's too much considering Malkins age. Hallsy will probably be the better player in less than 5 years. Hall and a 2nd and you got a deal. |

Man I hate Ference. But its like the Horcoff thing. I hate him because we are forced to use him in a higher role than he can handle. |

Once again, for the right price. Crosby is the best player (right now), but he doesn't automatically equal championships (as seen by one cup during his tenure). So if moving him meant that the team gets better, then I'd do it. Just because you move the better player(s) it doesn't have to mean your team becomes worse. |

Absolutely. I love the guys who protect Hall from any sort of trade talk.
We know what everyone knows:
1) he is an awesome offensive weapon.
2) he is our best player
3) he plays with a lot of fire.
4) he could get us a monster return.
Here is what we don't know:
1) Hall is a positive influence on his locker room.
2) Hall has the mental resilience to overcome 5 years of losing and the desire to remain an Oiler.
3) Hall has the leadership abilities to carry this team.
4) Hall is happy to play pro hockey for Edmonton and 100% commited.
We hope all of those last 4 things. But what if he isn't? |

In fairness to Hall, those four unknowns apply in so many words to almost every oiler.
Bob McKenzie apparently polled GMs on a redraft of the 2010 forwards and they placed Hall "a distant 4th" behind Johansen, Seguin and Tarasenko. Tactical slagging of Hall to reduce his trade value or not, is it clear that he's going to get anywhere close to full value in a trade? If we're trading someone for 80% value, I'd much rather it be Ebs than Hall, even if that means the return is smaller.
And to give you a more honest answer about the past 20 cup winners, it's clear that having a #1 centre is incredibly important. But most of those teams also had an excellent winger on the team. A winger that in many cases it could be argued was as close to the best at their position at the time as the team's centre was.
Teemu/Perry vs Getzlaf
Kane vs Toews
Zetterberg vs Datsyuk
Lucic vs Bergeron/Krejci
Hull vs Modano
Arnott/Elias vs Sykora/Gomez
St Louis vs Lecavalier/Richards
Fedorov/Shanahan vs Yzerman
Damphousse/Bellows vs Kirk Muller
I see no problem continuing to build around Hall and Nuge. |
