they look like a solid bet to get one of the 2 studs. that's why i think you're likely to see them do absolutely nothing. not fire Eakins, not make any trades unless it's dumping guys like Perron or Petry for futures. - DoubleDown
Maybe if they keep hiring former players to run the front office things will eventually turn around...

no point in going for anything other than that at this point. |

Thing is, this will probably keep going on for years to come. I can see the league trying to figure out something to stop this. - Tee-Dot
the only thing the league can do is change the draft lottery rules, which would be ridiculous because you cannot punish other teams for Edmonton's incompetence. the only thing that will change Edmonton's fortunes is their owner stepping to the plate and cleaning this thing out from its roots (Kevin Lowe). but if that hasn't happened by now, you gotta wonder when/if it ever will. |

Dreger is usually pretty even keel but he was ripping the entire organization on 690 the other day.
said the root of the problem is Katz grew up idolizing these guys and he can't get over that |

yeah but if they followed in Edmonton's footsteps, Mario Tremblay would be the GM right now and he'd be reporting to Rejean Houle. |

It's pathetic. Say I owned the Leafs and had Gilmour, Clark, & Tucker in charge. When my team starts pulling that nosedive, those three will be on the edge of the plank. "No hard feelings guys, but..."

i would have loved to be in the room when that decision was made. because someone at some point said out loud "you know who would make a really good GM? Rejean Houle." apparently no one asked for specifics. |
