Yeah, those cap-managing trades seemed great capology-wise, but they're basically already thinking about next year.

Which makes sense. If you listen to Bergevin's dialogue he never figured this team would be ready at this stage nor does his current dialogue indicate that.

I mean, we are being tough on the team who are simply going through the pains of a 82 game season.

But at the end of the day does anybody really expect this team to match-up favorably against the Sharks, Ducks, Blues, Hawks, and Kings of the West?

horrible PP, can't score goals, that stuff i get. it was a problem last year too. but the team excelled because they played pretty tight defence and limited the great scoring chances. that's been the biggest difference i see. i loved the Gorges trade at the time because i thought it meant the D was going to get younger, but in hindsight it was a terrible move. they could have waited to trade him.

So basically you're blaming the refs???

Come on...you're better than this.

They are good enough to dominate the Habs in a playoff series, but yeah I doubt they get out of West against the other mentioned teams.

it does make sense but what i was asking was, why not wait until this offseason to trade Gorges? it's not like he was unwanted. he was traded to 2 teams in 48 hours. if they were unsure about Beaulieu seems like it would have been better to keep Gorges a little bit longer.

I think early on when they had the good start most people not named Eric Engels weren't talking Stanley Cup but were happy and saying the points will be good when they hit a rough patch.

now they hit a rough patch and everyone freaks out.

to b honest I think the disappointing thing isn't the rough patch, it's that the shortcomings are not at all what people expected.

I thought offensively they'd be challenged but ok, defensively they'd have some issues becasue of the kids playing. now they suck on D becasue they're old and slow and the offense is struggling.
