That would be a Mario Lemieux draft style of epic collapse. EDM already has his jersey for sale. |

Only the Oilers are playing worse hockey than the Flyers right now although both teams have 3 points in their last ten (EDM is 0-7-3 and PHI is 1-8-1). This has to be rock bottom. - NickTheKid87
Combine both squads and Hendricks is the only unhealthy player.

Nah. I mean, that was pretty blatant. There are documentaries about how blatant and intentional that collapse was.
This collapse is far more subtle.

Agreed that they should gift Taylor Hall to the Flyers.

They've done little with the first round picks and what small amount of talent they've draft after round one has been traded to Dallas. |

I have a feeling Buffalo's going go the way of the Oilers... a ton of picks doesn't help if your team sucks at drafting. |

Their biggest issue has been not realizing what it takes to build a TEAM. Just like the Detroit Lions for years... take the top wing (running back/qb) no matter what your needs are. Unfortunately, that wing (rb/qb) isn't going to mean squat if you don't have the other personal to support them. Until Edm loses the "draft the #1 forward because he's the best" mentality, they'll be in the same position. And unfortunately, thanks to the way the system is set up, they will be rewarded year after year, the chance to make the same mistake.
It's like friggin groundhog's day.. |

I'd even be nice enough to throw in Umberger and VLC if they include Toews. |

I think VLC is lucky he plays hockey. If he were a football player, making that much money and playing to a similar poor level on the Eagles, I don't think it's beyond some of the psychos on that fanbase to try to off him. |

I don't want Grossmann to have the puck on his stick. I think we can all agree with that. He treats it like a buttered hand grenade. However I DO want Grossmann out there without it on his stick. He blocks shots (this implies good positioning), ties men up on the boards (and if a forward supports wins puck battles), he's slow as molasses but doesn't allow the same # of break aways that some of the other D do. If you want a real opinion of Grossmann go ask Mason. Hell even Bryz loved Grossmann!
Is he a flashy super skilled D-men, nope. But is he a serviceable stay at home? Sure. Are there better players? Yep. Is he the worst D we have? Depends on what you value.
I guess he's not my whipping boy of choice. - FlyersGrace
It's not really that he's a whipping boy, it's just that he seems immune from being scratched and it's really not deserved. We see MDZ, Schenn, Schultz, etc get sat out, but it never extends to Coburn or Grossmann. Neither of those two are playing at a level high enough to exclude them from being a healthy scratch, IMO.
It's why I always say Berube's accountability is an issue. Some guys get a ton more rope, but their play doesn't really warrant it. |
