I love live, professional hockey. It's a fun night out. - johndewar
If you call uninspiring hockey coupled with head scratching decisions made by both players and coach along with overpriced concessions a fun night....more power to ya.
Nah - to each their own. Enjoy brother. |

I sat through "The Season that Shall Not be Named".
I also saw Claude Giroux's game winner in the SC finals in 2010. Bought a Giroux jersey solely based on that goal.
I saw most of the Eric Lindros/Jawn LeClair era.
I can sit through whatever the hell this is. I don't think it's gonna last forever. |

If this team gets a top 2 pick and a couple trades they could be a very solid team again. This is the year where everyone needs defenseman and the Flyers might be able to unload some at the deadline for good returns. I acutally think Hextall could make this team pretty solid with the right moves and top 2 pick - J35Bacher
Let's hope some injuries sideline playoff teams' defensemen for the post season and they come knocking for some of ours |

I wish I had went to more games when Lindros was around. He's my all time favorite Flyer.
Damnit!! Now, i'm left with this slop! |

Couldn't be a better reason to root for the pick. I must be the only person alive on whom the JR act always wore thin. |

Obviously, I never want to be in the position to be sellers at the deadline but every year I see how much sellers get for mediocre players and wish we could pull off some trades like that. Sadly, we are looking to be in that position this year..let's hope Hextall can work some magic. |

11 CF - 22 CA last night.
He now has the worst possession stats of any defensemen on the team by a significant margin despite getting to play with Streit most of the time. And Streit has the best Corsi stats of any Flyers dman.
http://www.naturalstattri...eams.php?team=PHI&sit=5v5 - Feanor
If you're going to judge Grossmann on possesion numbers, might was well judge him on goals and assists. He's not a puck moving defenseman. He's shot blocking physical defensive defenseman, who is in the lineup because of those qualities. |

Truly.
I just kind of hope they keep Grossmann. I believe in him over Luke, and frankly this blueline really lacks any sort of grit.
I don't really have a problem with the defensive d-men on the club, ideally they are on a 3rd pairing. The issue I do have is the puck movers, are pretty bad at doing so, and even worse at skating the puck out themselves more than 3 feet.
I know the forwards get a lot of blame for not coming back to help the D on break-outs, but its a bigger issue. The forwards should also be able to rely on their D to make an accurate pass more than 5 feet or skate the puck out once in a while. |

It wasn't just the turnover. But on at least 2 other occasions he had the puck on his stick, no real pressure and he just gives away possession. It just seems that there is a glaring lack of offensive hockey sense with him, Schenn, AMac, Coburn and to some degree Schultz. This is why the scratching of MDZ was puzzling to me. Even a struggling MDZ brings more skill to the back end than anyone not named Streit and lord knows they can't afford any LESS skill on D. - BiggE
bingo. they throw these passes under no duress that take the play in a negative direction. you're left thinking what could have been. the passing on D esp, is very poor and it kills whatever possible flow. |

I liked it when the Flyers got him.
I liked it when they got rid of him.
That about sums up the Jeremy Roenick experience for most people I know. |

Just for poops and giggles, say we're at #1 and Arizona is at #6 and they offer the pick and OEL for the first pick? |

If Grossmann was on the third pairing getting 15 minutes a game it wouldn't bug me so much, but he's chained to Streit for some reason and the results are staggering.
Streit CF% with Grossman - 43.81
Streit CF% without Grossmann - 61.26 - Feanor
You're assuming those numbers change because Streit is no longer playing with Grossmann. |
