Something you never think about. If we drafted our depth players they would be on much cheaper contracts. No 4.5 for Nikitin.

If we only need one piece to be a middle of the pack team, but it's a ginormous piece, are we close or are we far?

The thing with Nikitin that I'm thinking increasingly, is that the guy misses 10 games a year with back problems.

Maybe he's just not healthy enough to be a solid NHL contributor...

The only hope is that someday our bottom 6 and 4-6 dmen will feature some of the guys we've drafted in the last couple of years.

It's just hope though given their track record...

Guys like Pitlick look promising. Chase, Yakimov and a few other guys are trending to be bottom 6 imo. Defense is still a barren wasteland, we need to start hitting with guys like Musil and Simpson.
