At this point, do we pick up Lindback from the waiver wire to see if his 6'6" frame can stop pucks better than a 6'2" or 6' guy can? - nated81

It's obviously a subjective argument, that said, we're talking about 22 yr old kids here. And, we're talking about hindsight here. Patrice Bergeron didn't have breakout year until he was 21, just like Seguin and Johansen.
Seguin is a natural center whether he's playing the wing or not, I think it's fair to say he's a much better center than either Hall or Tarasenko could ever be. - LeftCoaster
What I meant by the Bergeron comment is that one way a centre can be truly effective over a winger is the defensive prowess. None of these guys have particularly polished defensive games.
Thus far, Johansen and Seguin essentially play centre exactly like they would play wing: do their best in their own end, look to make plays in the offensive end. So they're not that different from Hall and Tarasenko.
The argument that a centre is more important than a wing is best exemplified by Toews over Kane. But that's because Toews is such a polished two-way player who can still bring the heat offensively.
Tie goes to the centre more often than not because the centre holds a lot of defensive responsibility in the NHL and thus centres are often groomed to have more defensive acumen. But if you look at another example of Jason Spezza vs Marian Hossa. Both comparable output, size, etc. I'm not going to take Spezza over Hossa just because he's a centre, in part because Hossa is a firmly better defensive player.
So I see the important characteristic to be two-way skill, not position. And on the subject of these four, there's only burgeoning evidence that they'll become two-way threats. |

It couldn't make things worse, right? I realize Tampa doesn't think he can stop pucks but we just lost 10 in a row, not all goaltendings fault, but a couple of saves a key times could have made for better results. |

And he also has better numbers than both of our goalies as well as his own teams starting goalie. |

Just personally I wouldn't trade Hall/Nuge/Ebs
next season i would like to see them draft McDavid. Offer up Yak, Perron, Purcell, J Schultz, one of the d prospects and the 2016 1st rounder as trade bait..... looking to bring two defenders that can play and eat up minutes.
I really like the current 4th line so i'd keep that the same. I don't think you'd get too much for moving Ebs so i would keep him over Yak. As for the 2nd line rw spot I wonder if any ufa's would consider Edmonton????? Chris Stewart is having a bad year maybe he'd come for a reasonable price. Add some grit in the top 6. Beleskey, Nick Foligno, Thomas Kopecky, and Joel Ward would be a decent target for the 3rd line.
Pouliot/Nuge/Ebs
Hall/McJesus/???
???/Draisaitl/?Pitlick
Hendricks/Gordon/Pinizzotto/Gazdic
As for the defense I would hope for a Weber but I doubt that will happen
Phaneuf, Coburn, Jay Harrison, Johnny Boychuk, and Mark Staal would all be defenders that the oilers should target.
Goalies would have to be done via Trade.
I guess we all dream |

I agree with this post! Obviously there is a lot more that goes into rating players but that is a good breakdown.

Guy is on a one yr 925k deal. They could send him to OKC and only retain a 25000 cap hit. Seems like a legit risk |

The way I see it, petry is gone at the deadline for at most a mid round pick. So it's basically eberle, Klefbom, a first and a third/fourth. It's understandable that no one wants to move that 1st. Maybe a first in 2016?
