Yup I guess you're all correct.
He should fire Eakins and trade away everyone for nothing because that's what he's getting for offers. That will turn it around real quick. - Iggysbff
I don't agree with that. Getting rid of Eakins isn't going to solve anything. MacT just said that there's no fair value for making a trade.

That's going too far Walt...
I wouldn't take any crappy trade offers, but I really think Eakins has lost this team. |

We've been hearing this same song and dance since 2007. Just because it's MacT saying it now doesn't make it any less redundant. This team has not made any noticeable improvements and has literally set a new bar for franchise lows. Seriously, even after the Oilers become better (which one assumes has to eventually happen) this era of Oilers hockey will always be referred to as the worst of any franchise. Platitudes and spin simply don't cut it anymore. |

My biggest disagreement was Mac T saying he won't deal picks.
WE NEED MORE EXPERIENCE.
I'm not saying move the first round pick for a 4th liner but damn start moving a couple mid round picks each year for NHL talent to support the 1st rounders who do have the highest likelihood of actually being a player. |

If that were the case he would be gone. In fact the team coming to Eakins support is the only thing that has saved his ass right now. |

The quote at the end that really grinds my gears is him saying Hall and Eberle need to hold the team accountable and expect more of their teammates. I think it's the other way around these are the guys that need to be held accountable and expected more of. If anything its these two along with Schultz that are leading the way with inconsistent play. |

The current model hasn't worked. If that isn't obvious at this point I don't know what to say. Firing goalies coaches and holding meaningless pressers won't change a thing. Seriously, say he fired Eakins and traded everyone. It would be almost impossible to be any worse than they have been. What the hell are we clinging to? The omnipresent promise of "future dominance"? For whatever reasons, the current mix, however talented, is not working. |

Agreed. It's just after all this suck it's nice to look ahead to when/if they become a good team we can say we went through the Dark Ages. |

Hall isn't Messier, but he does need to do more in other areas. Jultz is muffcabbage, Eberle is injured. Jultz should not be apart of the core. Eberle needs to get healthier. But, yes, both of those guys need to be doing a bigger impact. |

He did trade both 2nd and his 3rd round pick last year. Maybe he plans on doing the same at trade deadline. |

?
Who are you going to get for mid round picks? Not any good d that will help us. We don't need depth d or forwards. And he did trade mid picks for goalies and second rounders for guys like Perron. If the value is there he will do it. He came close to trading our first last year. |

He did call out Ebs and others earlier that that need to be better and more accountable. |

I hate the fact that we've blamed Renney and Quinn and Kreuger for this teams previous faults because when people say fire Eakins its kinda blah blah. But Eakins is soo (frank)ing bad, you never ever see him say a word on the bench. They lose a game 7-1 and he talks about the positives and diverts the bad to how the crowd is unclassy for being pissed off. He's in over his head. |

I already went through the dark ages post Gretzky/Messier and watched them draft Steve Kelly over Shane Doan and Jason Bonsignore and Shane Corson as our captain. Trust me it sucked ass. Pretty bad when Im pining for the days when we squeaked in at 8th place and played maybe a round or two. At least those teams seemed to give a poop. |

I don't have a problem with that. Those guys wear letters on this team and if they are not doing their best to lead this team then they don't deserve those As. |

Yes, ive heard said players defending Eakins, but from an outsiders perspective there have been some very questionable decisions from Eakins. And I don't hate the guy, poop at one point I thought he would end up as the Leafs coach. I just don't think he is a good fit for the Oil. |

And I'm all for making the right changes. I'm not saying anyone should be protected. I'd trade anyone for the right price. But the deals being talked about are ridiculous. |

Those questionable decisions/deployment may be coming from upper management. We know what MacT thinks of Jultz. He may be forcing Eakins to use him. |

No but we need actual NHL centres. I would guess that a couple mid round picks, say a 3rd and a 4th gets you a guy like Kyle Brodziak which would've helped this team. |
