Looking at Martinez's extension, I again am confused why we "need" to trade Myers at all.
Murray is asking high, and he should - it's on another GM to make an offer we can't refuse. The worst case situation is we have Myers and his tied-for-26th highest NHL salary for a few more years. - nfph
Oh, and Marco Scandella also earns $4mm a year as of 2015-2016.

Career totals less inspiring than Myers rookie season. |

They are throwing around $4M at players like it's almost a shade over the league minimum. |

Careful, that kind of language will get you a visit from these guys
The only quibble I have with Darcy is we could have signed Myers to that contract this year, instead of throwing it on his shoulders before he could legally drink alcohol. - nfph
the Spanish inquisition...friggen classic
don't forget, that myers' signing was a break from the past...instead of waiting 'til the last minute, they locked up a player early |

With all the rumors going around about the salary cap not rising for next year and staying at $69M, does that gave TM the green light to poach a quality player from a team in cap trouble in the offseason or even the trade deadline? - kingcong39
Not a bad play. You have two late first round picks you can give up. Say you offer a first per player. You can target:
PHI - Simmonds, B Schenn, Coutourier, Voracek
Chi - Shaw, Saad, Hjalmarsson
TBL - Connolly, Kucherov, Stralman
LA - Brown, CArter, Richards, Muzzin
Min - Grandlund, Pomminville
WSH - Johanson, Kuznetzov
Bos - Lucic, Eriksson, Krug, McQuaid
Pitt is meh, no one I would want.

yup...some others too, like boston...kinda like carl soderberg - Michael Pachla
Boston has $11.5M in space for next year and they need to re-sign Krug, Hamilton and Smith so, yes they might be up against it as well. I wonder what the Hwks will do and will they move some of their vets like Bickell, Seabrook and Versteeg. If I'm Murray, I'd pay attention to what the Hawks might do. |

Murray is doing exactly what he should: waiting for a GM to get seriously desperate and offer the moon, at which point he can decide whether to take the offer or not. - kingcong39
Funny thing is we have no idea what Murray is thinking or doing. All speculation |

Kind of the point of a message/discussion board, but that's just my opinion... |

Why would the Sabres do that? going to take more then that to get Myers. Dial tones are very common these days. - SABRES 89
I don't want to move him ! Don't get me wrong, practically anyone on the roster is tradeable but I don't want to give up on Myers.
I was stirring the pot.

Sure is. Its just funny to me that alot of people think they have Murrays plan all figured out. |

not sure why pham's baggin' on Larsson lately:
"Watching Schaller play he probably looks like he’s more apt to be that good bottom six forward than Johan Larsson"
I think Larsson will turn out fine

It's an educated guess.
If Murray wanted to trade Myers he would have been out the door already. |

any much more and it puts them at or very near the cap with five open roster spaces |

I would add NYR to that list. They have $23m to sign 11 players including stepan and hagelin.

If this team continues to over achieve, and that is a big if then......
Murray almost has no choice but to try to make a few moves for the team to get better |

Belesky is a bottom six talent that is prospering only because he was thrust onto the top line with Getzlaf and Perry due to injuries and Anaheims lack of LW talent. He was actually the second bottom six winger to play the top line there. Perron, another bottom sixer was injured playing against Buffalo from a low hit by Gorges. Perron was Anahems choice over Belesky and no one wants him. Just ask an Anaheim fan. Belesky is no better than Foligno, Stewart etc. |
