maybe the best thing that can happen to the sabres is enroth signs a 2 year extension, then collides with ennis and girgens during the warm up skate and they all miss 2 months

only stats I care about is wins and losses and how the kids progress
we are winning right now and the kids are playing well with a full pipeline
just my opinion, but if they win a few more games, say 7 out of the next 10 games, murray needs to throw the kids a bone - homiedclown
but what if we let the opposing Team takes more shots on us during the 2nd period, on the 3rd week on a day that has a full moon? Does that mean we aren't playing better? |

if the sabres do no tank
would you rather they finish 10th in the east and get the 10th overall pick or finish 8th in the east and get bounced in 5 games and get the 15th overall pick
only answer from the 2 choices, or ignore the post - homiedclown
I'll take 'tenth for $200' Alex. |

Same except I think the saunders move closes the door on Melky, which im okay with. They offered him 3x39, he's not worth more than that. His stats suggests he'll cool off. Id rather they take that money and address the bullpen (even the starting rotation with Happ gone).
His bat won't be as missed as most people thought with a top 5 of Reyes,Martin,Bautista,Encarnacion,Donaldson. - Sabresfan-365
honestly I did not know about the recent trade til just now
now they need 1 starter and an arm or 2 in the pen
then I think playoffs could be in their future
maybe the jays are the 4th team in on Lester, that would be huge |

I think the best case scenario is the Isles trade Boychuk and Halak to Edmonton for Yakupov. |

Rumoured to be in on him but the cubs have money to burn. They freed up dollars in their latest deal, im curious to see what approach they take. Spread it around or go big on one. They've lost quite a few arms in the last two trades. |

You guys notice the Sabres turnaround coincided perfectly with the return of Rick Jeanerette? |

I think this team is starting to get it. They are buying into making the "right" plays. This is not to say they are perfect, as apparent by the huge number of shots against and chances against, but they are buying in to playing for each other. Not only did it coincide with RJ's return, but it happened when Zads stood up for Ennis. There is not one player out there, in the games I've been able to watch/listen to, that isn't playing for his teammates.
The rest of the season is dependent upon who Murray wants to keep long term. That's what I keep hearing from the guys on Hockey Hotline. Enjoy this win streak, because some of these players will be gone and the dynamic will likely change. |

one more reason to make some moves now before the trade freeze
if this team is 4 points out of a playoff spot then some fans and young team mates are going to be pissed |

I definitely think we need to have a better idea before the deadline, but I don't know who will be buying before christmas.
Anaheim needs short term D help, but outside of that I am not sure what other "contenders" are in the market for what we have to offer.
I don't see Hodgson getting much value. I know Cabin and maybe even 89 have said it's not worth getting more picks. Yes they are currency in trades, but I'd rather start to get players for players. |

Realistically, what does a package like this net:
Hodgson, Stafford/Stewart, 2nd?
Could that net a player like Evander Kane?
What about something like:
Foligno, Enroth/Neuvirth/Hackett (whomever we aren't keeping), late first?
EDIT:
What should this team be looking for? I am trying to figure out what this team needs moving forward. Bonafide scoring? |

Put it in perspective.
On the front page, there are almost 40 blog postings shown and 1 picture of a female.
Those blogs contain around 2,500-3,000 comments, any of which could be loaded with girlie pics.
Just the rules man, sorry... |

Bruins GM Chiarelli was at the Sabres game Tuesday night while his B's were out on the west coast. Kinda strange he wasn't traveling with the team to attend a TB/Swords game, a job his scouts could do. Maybe we'll see at some point a trade with the Bruins, either to move Stewart or a cap relief type of move looking into next season. - mhp
Well, Stewart certainly didn't do anything in that game to make Chiarelli want him, imo. |

Ennis is really emerging as a pro to be taken seriously night in and night out on this team. We haven't had that in awhile. |

If the sabres get pounded 7-1 tonight I am sure people are going to have fun pounding on a few of us, but as of now I know 2 things
1. winning is contagious
2. this is the closest thing to a team I have seen from the sabres in 7 years |

I doubt it gets to that. They're playing better, everyone has conceded to that. They'll either win close or lose close, that's the kind of hockey they're playing.
My biggest complaint in terms of the present is while they're playing better, it's some pretty boring hockey. |

Keep in mind though we are only 3 points ahead of Edmonton. 3 losses and we could be back in 30th.
Which IMO, is the best thing for this franchise |

57 games left in the season. Im not worried about a mid-quarter season winning streak where we have to rely on bounces off the stanchion to win, or a clueless goaltending unknowingly making a save with his back to keep us in it. Or Steven Stamkos to be a quarter of a inch off with his shot.
If we were out possessing, out shooting, and out chancing other teams, i'd be severely worried. |
