If you can free up enough money, you can turn around and do what the Isles did, and jump on another team's cap issues and replace the guys you deal away with similar guys on cheaper, shorter deals.

The Islanders gave up two 2nd round picks to acquire Boychuk, who will be a UFA. It's going to cost them big bucks to re-sign him. And what if he walks? He's a better player, but it's doing the same thing the Flyers did with MacDonald. Can't guarantee that players like that will be available.

I think Buffalo is starting to get their act together...Ristolainen and Zadorov are beginning to acclimate and play big minutes, Girgensons is coming on and showing he can be dynamic, Myers is sarting to regain his earlier promising form...Enroth is a quality tender. They've won 6 out of 7 including a sweep of MON and most recently a W over TB. If I had to bet, I'd bet the Sabres will finish ahead of the Flyers.
