Seth Jones proves that the lottery isn't rigged. The NHL had a tremendous opportunity to market the first African American star with a compelling back story that every network and main stream sports site would eat up and let him land in Nashville.

What if a player stated something like that about a coach?
- jak521

It'd be fine. He's just giving an honest assessment.

Like when the players scratch Berube they'll just say he hasn't coached as well over the last few weeks. He's not doing the things they're asking of him.

Not the only choices.

So how come this franchise has a bad team with little cap flexibility over the next few years?

Disagree again. The mistakes this team is making can absolutely be corrected. This has zero to do with berube's system. Even good players make bad plays. This team is in a mental funk right now. It's why you see Coburn out of control and taking out Mason because he's overplaying and trying to do too much. This team is certainly limited by the holes in the roster, and it's talent level. But there is no question that they can play much better as a team then they have been.
- MJL

Coburn has played exactly like this every time he has been partnered with a different defenseman than Timonen. That's who he is. The brain is as much a part of a players talent level as hands or skating. He has fallen apart every time he has been away from Timonen or do you forget the disaster of a start to the season coming out of the lockout when Timonen was paired with L. Schenn.

Look, if Hagg runs to Jeff Carter's place in Sea Isle, obviously Murray has gone too far. And, to anoth...hey, what did you call me??

I am happy thank you.

I'm sorry I just a little bit worked up in the middle of that word. I'm sorry it hurt you.

I'm glad we talked this out.

Well, it's either the coach isn't getting anything out the players or the GMs (frank)ed this thing up because the Flyers are one of the worst teams in hockey right now. I'll let you take the pick.

Hint: There is no wrong answer.

- PhillySportsGuy

The way they won last year was completely unsustainable.

Nobody should be surprised how they're faring this season. Instead of playing like poop and inexplicably winning, they're playing like poop and getting the results they deserve.

He'd be Pat Maroon'd off to Anaheim.

It's not the player's job to get the most out of his coach.

Man, Terry Murray must be a monster. They'll end up making a movieout of this story one day, and Robert Duvall will get the lead. Oh, wait...it's already been done.

That's wrong. Coming from behind to win late in the game was by design so the other teams in the league felt they had a chance against us. This season they're taking it even further by losing a lot to lull the rest of the league into a false sense of security so when they come jumping out at them like a leopard, everybody will be caught off guard and we'll feast like cannibals on their corpses...

At least that's how I see it. I could be wrong.

Just curious... How many more games in a row does Coach Face Punch get to lose?

Hopefully at least until they've got enough L's to secure Connor or Jack.

For once, I actually agree with your assessment of the situation. The simple, fundamental mistakes many of the players on this team are making are definitely correctable...I only worry that some of them don't have the mental fortitude to do so. We've seen flashes of them playing to their ability, but unfortunately they don't sustain that level of play for more than two periods.

Listen, I have no problem with coaches pushing guys and working them to get the most out of them an what have you... but playing the media card on a 19 year old wouldnt have been my best idea. Work him really hard, ride him. Call him out in the locker, on the bench. Call him out one on one. Reach out over the phone, away from the "work" atmosphere. Media always seems to back fire a bit.

If they change mid season it will probably be to one of the assitants. So I don't really even see the need to change. If they want a new coach you might as well wait till the end of the season. Then you can see if Babcock signs in detriot. If he does I would think that Blashill in Grand Rapids would be a hot name.

Have a chance at the San Jose guy, or Babcock.

Best they will get now is Murray or trap lover Boucher. Cote promoted to HC of the AHL team?

Berube wont last, but wait for the right time for the hammer to fall. At first light, on the fifth day, look to the East.

I think they are certainly not playing well right now. But I still beleive that they have a good core to build on. And I think this team can play a lot better. I'm not worried about the cap at all.

Can't see them firing him this season, regardless of how bad it gets. Hextall said it probably wasn't going to be the best year for the team, so we'll see!

Coburn is one player. And I think he is a much better defenseman than many give him credit for. He hasn't spent that much time away from Timonen. And I don't blame him if the Flyers have to use him as a #1 when he isn't a #1.
