Here's a scenario...if the season ended today, the sabres would possess the 4th, 21st, 29th, 34th, and 59th picks. Could trading the last 4 picks get you get back in the top 5? And if you could, would you? |

In this draft probably not. I can't imagine anyone with a top 10 pick moving down. With the value those picks have, they'll either take BPA or trade it for an NHL player.
But if I could yes absolutely. We're at the stage in a rebuild where we've quantitatively amassed enough prospects. All about quality now. |

Yes, that's for sure. And with the limits that the NHL puts on how many guys can be under contract at a given time, that makes it very difficult to imagine that there won't be some sort of moves coming. |

That's my thought as well. Depending on the team that we are dealing with, that trade could work. With the depth and quality that is present in this draft, a team like Carolina, Philly, or Arizona may be more interested in restocking the cupboards. |

If he can't find a way to trade up and there's no big player available i'd look at moving one or 2 of them to a team that doesn't have a pick in the 1st round.
Rangers come to mind, along with whoever else moves a 2015 1st on deadline day. |

I agree but I think the gap between those 4 picks and a guy in the top 5, in this particular draft, is just too much for them to consider. It'd be more feasible if one of those picks was still in the top half of the draft.
I'd be impressed if he found a way back into the top 10. |

Personally I'd love to see Myers and a 1st for Taylor Hall but doubt that could ever happen |

A Nhl roster player(s). Unless you meant specifically in which case i haven't given it enough thought to have a specific player in mind. |

So you're saying you'd trade them one of the 1st round picks for a roster player? Or are we packaging something together to get the player?
If it's just a player for pick swap, that doesn't help us. It actually could make things worse from a contract standpoint. The players drafted won't need contracts right away, but an NHL player will already have one. |

I would have to think it's prospects and the pick? |

I would love to bring a big time winger like Nash here.
The Rangers have a couple tough contract choices to make |

I don't see Nash really fitting in with the timeline of things here though. He's already 30 years old. We already have a guy on the roster who's age doesn't quite fit in in Moulson. While Nash is a more skilled player, I don't know that you're going to get that much more production out of him for it to make sense.
And I know you're not saying that's who you want, you were just using him as an example. I just think that any team that's willing to part with a guy like him because of the cap is also doing it because the production doesn't justify the cap hit anymore. |

I actually would take him here at 30. I wouldn't trade the farm for him, which is probably what it would take. |

The package one. Teams without a 1st are generally contending which usually means they're close to the cap. With the cap probably staying the same, my guess is a few of these teams will need to make tough choices with certain players.
New York struck me as possibility because of the number of key players who are on small ish contracts that will be getting pay raises. They may want to leave room for flexibility to address other needs so they'll have to be a little more frugal than usual. |

But everyone condemned Buffalo for thinking about it . McTavish pretty well came out and said it. They need to gut that whole organization starting with the owner.

The Top Five Biggest Hitters among NHL prospects
1. Nikita Zadorov – Buffalo Sabres
Six-foot-five and two hundred and thirty-five pounds, Nikita Zadorov is a deadly weapon on skates. Considered the best body-checker out of his strong 2013 draft class, Zadorov tops our list on power alone. The former London Knights defender has a bit of a mean streak, too, and when he really gets agitated, enemies beware......
2. Nicolas Deslauriers – Buffalo Sabres
Honorable Mention: Hudson Fasching
