No 20 page discussions on the merits of tanking, advanced stats or ridiculous trade proposals and/or lineups???

Can't they still trade Vinny for him? Is it possible they can somehow trade with themselves and get rid of him?
How about Ed Snider just creates a new league and calls it "The National Hockey League" and starts a team called "The Philadelphia Flyers" and informs Bettman that the Vinny contract was for that team, not the team in the league of which Bettman is the commissioner? |

I never could understand that line of thinking.
You play the best players available to give you the best chance of winning regardless of salary. The GM (or ex-GM in this instance) won't be happy campers because it really shines a bright light on the bad signing.
Any coach worth his salt would resist the pressure to keep sending him out there and do what Berube is doing.
The only downside is it doesn't give VLC an opportunity salvage his game and further decreases the chance of moving him to greener pastures. Maybe the embarrassment of sitting for the first time in his career jump starts something. - 77rams
I'd say you'd just have to put him in for the sole reason that he needs to play in order for you to be able to move him at some point. No team is going to want anyone who has been a healthy scratch for a significant period of time especially if it's a declining player like Lecavalier. Maybe being healthy scratched will jump start him who really knows unless you try it. If you throw him in there on a line with lets say Schenn and Laughton and you move Simmonds down to the 3rd line with Read and Couturier , I think that would definitely give you a more balanced attack. |

Are you Claude Giroux??? You are getting quite defensive. Also I am not talking about last season. I am talking about this season. He has 28 pts in 25 games and most of those points are secondary assists from just handing the puck to Voracek so he can dominate. His goal scoring touch isnt quite there yet this season either. Judging on watching him play.... he does not seem like the same player in 2012. Thats just how I feel. He'll get his points and even in games when he is unoticeable BUT he got a point so he was awesome.... I have high expectations for Giroux. I would like to think he has the talent to be one of the top 5 players in the league. To me he has not shown it.... THIS SEASON. - GOA88
Nope, I am not Giroux..Im just realistic and look at facts..
First you say he isnt as intense as 2012 then you say you are only talking about this season.
Then you say most of points are secondary assists to Voracek and his goal scoring touch isnt the same yet he has 7 goals compared to Jakes 9.
So many things wrong with this team this season..Literally Giroux and Voracek should not be on anyone's complaint list about this team.

I would rather have Vinny than Umberger. They should be hell bent on getting him out first. |

You need to hope that a team believes he still has some gas left and is only being misused by the Flyers.
Then again, you run the risk of letting him continue his downward spiral and thereby removing any doubts. |

I think Lecavalier definitely has some of the tools left to be a decent player if given the right line mates. I still believe he has the hands and shot to put some points up on the board. Realistically speaking Lecavalier is a player who probably has just lost some of his desire for the game , and I guess you can't really blame him, he's accomplished a lot in his career so far. You just have to hope the healthy scratch has acted as a wake up call of sorts. |

VLC is a mess and has no business playing in the NHL anymore. He's clearly lost a step from JUST LAST YEAR, and since his game is 100% offense, if he can't even skate well enough to get open in the offensive zone, he is totally useless. He never wins any board battles and is a black hole when it comes to neutral zone play, defensive zone play and possession.
At this point, even Umberger brings more to the table than VLC. Any line that you insert Vinny on instantly becomes a worse line. Their only chance is to get this anchor off of their cap payroll will be after July 1st, if he makes it clear that next year is his final season, maybe some team desperate for offensive help at center, gives up a 7th round pick for him with the Flyers retaining 50% of the cap hit and salary. In real dollars, he would only cost that team 1.25 million for the 15-16 season.
What a friggin mess, thanks Homer, thanks a whole (frank)ing lot. |

Unless you're in the dreary Philadelphia area, you can just keep your criticism to yourself. And if you just so happen to be heading to one of the better vacation spots on the planet, you can eat it.

Personally I think he has been misused ever since they signed him. Mostly since he injured his back last season. He has never had the linemates to compliment his skill set. I would be interested in seeing how Voracek on his RW looked. |
