Steen had 33 goals last year. Maybe less this year but the offense they lose is about the same as what they gain. They also gain a player type they already have in Lucic.

It can happen. Hitch has probably already wet his Captain Kangaroo pajamas thinking about another fighter there. I'm just not seeing how it improves their offense in that combination. If it were Erikson and Lucic for Cole and Steen maybe a different story.

They may lose some offense in the trade but the presence of lucic making them that much harder to play against than they already are makes up for it. Plus lucic is clutch and timely with his goals which the blues could really use come playoff time.

Erikson's value has dropped severely since he's been traded. The guy will put up 30-40 pts at the most. Average offensive threat at the best nowadays. Gotta feel bad for boston about making that trade right? Well, on second thought, not really. Too bad Beantown lol

Tim Peel is really screwing us, again. 3 weak calls against St. Louis, all made from well away while Sutherland was standing right there watching the play and said there was no penalty.

Peel needs to not be allowed to ref Blues games.

I've been a supporter of Hitch, but if he trades for Lucic, I'm calling for his head.

that call on stastny was terrible and lead to the 4th goal by the isles. that being said, the blues have been terrible for about 3 weeks now and don't deserve to win this game

Not even close. How many suspension level headshots have they let us get away with?

I feel that Lapierre has shown serious improvement since the Boyle hit. The Blues don't necessarily need him, but I would certainly keep him over Ott.

i am a bruins fan also and i watched lapierre in that series a few years ago and have never cared for him. i did not like the signing at all. he has played relatively decent, i just do not like him. I did like courtnall though, he could actually play hockey. i know i go a few decades back there but similar type of player. but courtnall did it ALOT BETTER

i like otts tenacity but reaves does it better and can score. we don't need ott. he can hit but that is about all. when he has the puck he seems lost.

Reffing is extremely difficult. Especially when you are at the NHL level and have to keep up with the best players in the world.

I still think they should do a better job, but I don't think people realize how difficult it is. The skating to keep up and be in the correct position. Then needing to make the correct calls. It is so much easier to call a game while watching from the stands/on TV.

All of this is true. But I would like to see the referees along with the linesmen confer on calls and be willing to waive off a penalty if one of them saw the play better.

The call on Stastny by the back referee was terrible.

They shouldn't be too proud to get the calls right.

Nice comeback today. It was great to see guys chipping in.

It's not rocket science to know that when you are at center ice and the other ref is in the appropriate position to make a call on a play nearest to him, you don't make a call unless you are 100% sure on it.

There was one really weak call on the Islanders. Three really weak calls on the Blues. And an obvious 5 minute major on the Islanders that the refs missed entirely. Saying there were weak calls both ways implies it was poor but fair officiating. It wasn't. Islanders were given a distinct advantage by the poor officiating.

Haven't seen such whistle happy refs all season. At least the PIM's ended up evening out in the end.

Lot of speculation here about Steen and Cole. Steen would be one of the last guys they trade right now. And Cole, he should have sat long before today's game.

Very impressed by Butler. After his first couple games I thought there was no way this guy could hack it on this team but he has proven me wrong. I never realized how good he is offensively. They still need J Bo back though, especially if Gunnarson ends up missing time.
