Line rushes at practice has Nordstrom as the odd man out. Carcillo with Kruger and Smith.
Sharp on the right side with Shaw and Bickell. |

You or someone else might be able to answer this...
Given the talk about next season's cap possible not increasing by much or not at all, what are the chances of a salary rollback happening? Much like what was done after the '04-'05 lockout when player salaries were rolled back 24%.
Is that a possibility within the language of the current CBA or not? - EKolb13
According to contract law, this can't happen without a voluntary renegotiation of the CBA by both parties. The PA would be insane to do that. |

I agree with the highlighted. The idea of salary rollback came to mind, and I was curious if there was language written within the new CBA about that. |

Where does Sharp slot into the line up, and who sits?
In addition, could Darling push the organization to trade Raanta? - EKolb13
I would think carcillo sits and Saad slide in there...
and I wouldn't start trading back ups just yet.
why not we see exactly how much upside each has.
I want to see more looks where Darling has snipers start aiming repeated for the top corners when he flops and between the tree limbs when he is standing.
Also he is pretty good using the different parts of the stick to alleviate pressure, I want to see what happens when they start checking his stick out front.
But Feathers does have the correct idea anyway...you hope that both these guys do improve and push the starter.
To me there is NO ONE I want in the net for the next playoff run but Crawford. He could tastes the nectar in the silver cup last year and has nothing but winning this year on his mind. Strong resolve is true battler is what we need out there...and lots of them.
Darling starts because Raanta was shaky alst outing... no more no less.
This is also to get him primed for his next game...this coahing staff is very deliberate.
Don't think Crawford to Edmonton would get done in more than five minutes...but Taylor Hall makes the same dollars so you have created a hole in goal to fill a LW spot that was Sharp's? What am I talking about ? I am sounded like the rest of you!
(and wouldn't Darling and Raanta have to be paid serious coin to make Cap space, lol?) |

I would expect this in the off season with Raanta being the sweetner in a bigger move (i.e. Bickell). Raanta and Darling both appear to be decent back-ups, if we can turn one of them into another asset or help with cap relief then all the better.
Edmonton, Arizona, and Buffalo could use a new goalie. |

Or it could be a deadline deal? If the organization does decide to extend Darling, perhaps that signals that Raanta could be on his way out? |

Look at the upcoming three FA classes
Only Stamkos for sure, and MAYBE Hedman and Kopitar will eclipse the T+K contract numbers
They will still have top 5 cap hits in three years time - FourFeathers773
And deservedly so......they are after all two elite players and only a few compare...not Kessel, not ovechkin, not bergeron. Stanbo rebuilt the team before and there is no reason to think he can't again. |

Before I start annointing Darling as a #1 NHL goaltender and Crow's replacement I want to see how he performs after facing Western Conference teams more than once.
These goalies are like major league pitchers, they may be fine thru the batting order once or twice but when the big bats come up a third time it usually requires having the bullpen on high alert. Crow is a proven NHL'er, Darling and Raanta are not, at least yet.

Not only that my years of experience watching has seem goalies called up who are the next great ones. They get in there the player's shots get stopped, but after awhile there is plenty of videoatpe and the weaknesses are transparent and teams now go from flying blind to attacking those areas. Oh the pretty new great one suddenly gets ordinary.
and the other issue just like a player being a top four defender, they have to be a workhorse and PLAY that position day after day game after game, and they don't get the luxury of long periods of rest...and your goalie starter prospect has to be UP for that kind of work...
Stalock take the job away from Niemi yet?
Did Allen make the Blues comforatble this last weekend when they pulled him for Brodeur?
Did either new guy in Edmonton establish themselves? (and they HAVE BEEN in the league awhile) |

Meh. I don't hold that against Morin. I don't think there is anything else he can gain in the A. It just appears to be a bad fit for him in this system at this time.
He isn't suited to play a defensive role. He isn't good enough to supplant anyone in the top 6.
I think he saw the writing on the wall. I hope he finds a place that is suited for him. Nothing I have seen says he is a bad kid or an attitude problem. Sure appeared to me that every time he was sent back down all he did was play his ass off. He didn't pout like others were said to have done.

What's wrong with you? 4 games is more than enough to get rid of a goalie that has a Stanley Cup on his resume. |

No I actually don't either.
The kid just wants to play.
NHL players want to play not sit.
It must be very hard to be at that age and want something so badly and it is easy not to understand the reasons.
There are lots a places he does play in the NHL, and the biggest reason is he doesn't fit here.
He won't get the chance to go to the AHL because they are not lsoing an asset to waviers. That what the team has to do, not attempt it, so he is in limbo, which is gut wrenching for him i am sure.
We freaking agree again?!!!! |

After careful consideration have decided you are right. I expect to see Crow's name on the waiver wire tonight. There's so much can be gained by the cap space if he's claimed. |

Good to know the world hasnt gona completely crazy.
On a side note, I'm gonna guess that Morin gets traded to Washington or New Jersey. Just a guess, I dont think he'd get traded to a Western team. |

So true, plus how many goalies can you name who looked great for one season and then.........not so much. Guys Like Steve Mason, rookie of the year, then average. Mike Smith, one great season, then back to what he always was, an average net minder. Goaltenders who perform season after season at a consistent basis are hard to find and getting rid of them for un-proven goalies is not a recipe for success in the playoffs. Yeah, Hawks caught lightning in a bottle with Niemi in 2010, but numbers and eye test say the Hawks helped make Niemi successful more than the other way around.
The ultimate question huh? Does the team make the goalie or the goalie make the team. If the Hawks FO truly felt that the team makes the Goalie then they never would have ponied up a $6mil contract to Crawford. |

To me it seems like Carolina and Ottowa have too many no name younger players already. Thats why i figured Washington would try to get him or New Jersey because New Jersey's avg team age is like 105 or something. So they need young players.
Maybe WPG but i doubt it. |

I'll guess Morin to Buffalo for a draft pick. |
