St. Louis has plenty of young defensemen on their roster, and more in the pipeline.
What they really need is a front-line center who will play the way Stastny was supposed to for 7 mil a year. - hardnosed
Please don't Tell me you're once again trying to trade Geno.
Oshie is an alright player. An "A" D prospect and pick should be able to get him. |

This might sound outlandish, but maybe its not all that unbelievable. We keep talking about St. Louis, how about T.J. Oshie?
He comes in at a stomachable 4.175 mil and is struggling this year in a more marginalized roll so he may come at a cheaper price than he usually would. St Louis has forwards that that can step into NHL rolls in their pipeline, but their D prospects aren't overwhelmingly impressive and they have Jackman and Gunnarsson potentially walking soon. Plus, since T.J. is being called upon less to carry an offensive workload in St. Louis with the emergence of Vladimir Tarasenko, they might want to shed some cap and take advantage of some ELCs at both forward and defense in order to make space to pay Vlad who is most definitely a rising star in this league and who is going to be a RFA after this season.
Think about it. We'd be getting a 27 year old great hockey player who is signed for the next three years at just a slightly bigger price tag than Kunitz and Duper. We'd have to do some cap shedding on our part, but I think we'd have what St Louis would want: a young NHL ready defenseman on an ELC who is a potential stud. What do you think gets this done? - Victoro311
They need guys on ELC with tarasenko and Schwartz getting big contracts soon. They also do have rattie, fabbri, and barbashev who look to be top 6 guys in a couple years.

They have dmen who are 3 years from being in the NHL and none look to be better than a 3rd pairing player. You dangle harrington or despres in front of them and you could make a nice package for oshie - drummer829
If we had to give up Despres on a deal for Oshie I'd rather pass on it. It's not like I think he's worth more than Oshie but losing him and looking at our roster and seeing Scuderi would suck. |

It's annoying. It seems like everyone has a couple of potential top 6 forwards ready to jump in the lineup any time soon. We just don't have much to talk about on that front. |

Not many teams have 3 potential top 4 dmen though. |

Clever. Time to make the necessary trades to balance it out. |

Pouliot is leading the Baby Penguins in scoring (with Ebbett recall). Pretty sick for his first AHL season.
Could be a major chip in a trade, but IMO he should be untouchable. Hope Old man Rutherford feels the same. |

your gonna see scuds anyway. I'd hate to lose despres, but if a legit, young top 6 forward came back, I'd go for it. |

Great game today. 42-21. They still have to cut ties with a few guys to get better. Roethlisberger has to be a little bit more consistent too.
Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown are da men. |

I'd try to move martin and/or ehrhoff, or doumalin or despres over DP or SH. |

For Oshie, no deal for me. If we are talking about Kane coming back, lets do it! |

kane is overrated and expensive (price and contract). definately move despres for oshie or a similar signed young player. see post above though... BD or PM/CE are my first choices as far as trades go |

Martin, yes move him. Also I'd probably move Dumoulin before I moved Ehrhoff. I just think he's an awesome player. |

I'd be more than ok seeing a top 7 of kris-maata, DP/SH-despres, bortz-scuds.
means bd CE, and PM are all expendable. if the rawness doesnt wear off then pens trade for an UFA middle d-man towards deadline. (next year) this year we could lose 2 of those three and be fine. |

Do you really believe we can't find any takers for Scuderi, even eating $1M of his salary? I was hoping so. |

no... unless its for a similar forward with years left on a bad deal. vinny or umberger etc. i didnt mind scuds signing at the tie, though I said it was one year too long. price of doing business I guess. retrospect it was sheros worst move.
that extra year is killing us now... scuds only had one year ledft on his deal we could keep salary and move him. now.... |
|
|

I'm ok with moving pouliot if ehrhoff is signed resigned. Letang, ehrhoff, and maatta are your 3 main PP guys with despres showing he can handle some time on it too. To me, Harrington is more valuable to the team because the team could use another defensive dman |

that might be worse than scuds... but for the next 2.5 years id take him over scuds. 3rd line center, sutter up to wing (or malkin). that would be trading scuds for a top 6 essentially. but those last couple years of mikes contract. |

True but he might get us over the top. If we can win another cup with Mike it will be worth it right?it's all about finding the right pieces to maximize our Star power. |

I'm fine with this. Harrington is a Girardi type and might be valuable moving forward. I'm happy with Letang and Ehrhoff at the helm even If Pouliot pans out and becomes a new Brian Campbell, as many expected at first. |

Haha desperate moves Do you want Umberger too? Another guy that comes to mind is Hartnell's. I'd trade him for Scuds in a heartbeat. |
