I think we got a little spoiled during the Martin era. Coaches generally don't last that long. Guys like Ruff in Buffalo and Trotz in Nashville are rare finds as well. The Hartsburg and Paddock spans were frustrating, but happen. Murray, Maclean, and even Clouston had decent runs. Sometimes the message gets old and a new guy needs lead the team. Happens everywhere.

But see that's the difference between the management of Sens and the management of teams like Preds and Islanders, they don't blame their coachs for the teams mistakes (granted some of the mistakes were Macs fault). They seem to beleive in their coach and fix their team instead of leaving the same roster and fixing the coach. Mac seemed like the right coach for us at this point in time, i don't know if he lost the room or not and i do agree that winning the Jack Adams went to his head, BUT he has still managed to get some pretty good play out of some really bad Senators teams since he took over. We have a roster filled with basically duct tape over holes and are still .500? Why fire him and replace him with a coach that has 0 NHL experience? As a Sens fan, that is my only issue with this firing. We have no immediate fix so why fire a coach that was getting the job done, or atleast wait until our season is lost, no?

I don't see any possible reason why Tim Murray would want to leave Buffalo to go to Ottawa. The guy has a bunch of picks in the top 2 rounds of a deep draft, a bunch of young talent assembled and a patient owner with deep pockets. Keep dreaming.

Hockey Canada seemed excited to be working with Dave Cameron and the St Mikes Majors never had a losing season with him at the helm. Any chance Bryan Murray sees something in him too? He is supposed to be a brilliant tactician, responsible to a fault, and supports and mentors young teams all the way to Calder cups...So he doesn't have an NHL pedigree..Yet. He should be tailor-made for this job especially with Bryan Murray helping him navigate.
I think we give him the shot he's earned....Then vilify him later when the tightwad owner sells him out

Not sure they were all that thrilled when he was the first coach of Canada to not win the Gold in 6 years...or coaching those young teams to one playoff round in his three seasons as an AHL head coach. Including if I'm not mistaken coming in last in the AHL before getting sacked.

i'm not a huge fan of dave cameron, but still feel he should be defended here.

in the WJHC, his team full of 18 year old kids had one bad period, in a tournament they otherwise dominated, against a very strong russian team....and it cost them the tournament. i could understand the criticism if they hadn't played well most of the tourney, but they had one bad period. the bronze medal game went exactly as expected when you have a bunch of kids who were emotionally destroyed by the semi final game.

as for his time in the AHL........what coach could ever win when his best players were guys like cody bass, ilya zubov, jeff glass, etc. ottawa had one of the worst farm teams in the NHL. did you expect him to win calder trophy's with a terrible roster?

come on man, use some context.
