Lindros lost decisively to Marty McSorley but didn't lose that many.

Speaking of players you would think can fight..... umm...Rinaldo anyone?

As I recall, Lindros was playing that game with the flu, as well.

But losing a fight to Marty McSorley isn't exactly something to be ashamed of. Marty could really fight, obviously.

Also: I doubt you want your best skill guy fighting a dude like McSorley very often anyway.

Lindros had a big offensive game that night, though.

Totally agree that the Flyers didn't want Lindros fighting too often.

When the opponent was Scott Stevens or Derian Hatcher -- both of whom Lindros fought, the latter when trying to set a tone as the Flyers were trying to break a losing streak -- it wasn't a bad thing at all. Just didn't want Lindros fighting the McSorley types if he could avoid it.

I agree, mostly. You wanted Eric to fight when it was appropriate and I think, ultimately, he was pretty good at picking his spots.

Anyone remember the nationally televised game where the Blues sent Tony Twist out to try to goad Lindros into a fight?

That was just plain dumb and Lindros fighting with Twist would only help the Blues because it would get Lindros off the ice at the expense of Tony Twist, who wasn't a real hockey player.

I remember it well. Lindros had issues with Shayne Corson and Twist went after him. Ended up fighting Antoski and KOing him.

Exactly what I mean. firstly I don't want him risking injury to a McSorley type and secondly I didn't want to see Eric sit 5 mins and sometimes more to a player of the "goon" variety. not a good trade off

Thanks Bill. I vote we trade Coby. Keep him away from the PK, and the top 4 D. Play him minimal minutes, to shop him, and bring in Carlo.
Also, keep G away from the PK. G has defensive questions, and lacks consistency in that department. I would rather have V-check out on the PK. At least he puts in a full effort. You can also see him playing with emotion, and how he hates to lose. He gets so frustrated with the team's play. Keep up the good work V-check.
Oh, and a shout out for Simmer. He should be the true Captain, in my opinion. Let G have the A, and get a leader's voice in the room.
I am not really for the Flyers getting Stewart. He is just another head case, and we have plenty of those guys on our team already; Luke, Read, etc.... These guys were either one hit wonders or were developed poorly. They look good on paper, but are real head cases.
Thanks for listening.

Still can't believe Antoski was a first rounder in a pretty deep draft. KId could skate but couldn't play or fight

He didn't lose that many, but at the same time, when you're fighting the likes of Rob Zamuner, Alexander Karpotsev, or, if your weight class, Cale Hulse, you'd better win the majority of them. I liked when he went with Derian Hatcher at the beginning of the game as a rally to get the team out of a funk they were in (I think they tied to end a long losing streak), but fighting guys of his size/experience was the exception more than the norm.

But, as many people have said, you were rarely (if ever) getting a fair trade whenever Lindros fought, even more so if he would fight a goon/pest.

Twist and Kocur are, to me, the scariest two fighters ever. Tony Twist used to punch his cement floor in his basement to harden his knuckles, and Kocur was probably the hardest puncher in the history of the game (although Behn Wilson could land a KO pretty well). Those 2 guys could really hurt you bad.

I would love for the Flyers to limit Coburn's minutes, and bring in Colaiacovo, and give him some of the minutes that Coburn plays for one reason. To show how bad of an idea that is.
Secondly, have you noticed that since the Flyers starting using Giroux more on the PK, that it has actually improved somewhat? Voracek has never played on the PK in his entire NHL career.
Read is a head case? Based on what?
Lastly, why not stick around and discuss these statements that you make?

Hartnell fights gravity everytime he steps on the ice, so this is a distinct possibility.
