Santorelli is agreeing with Torts. He said he owes all his success to Torts.
Those type of coaches only work for a couple players per team, the rest hate them. Won't be long until they are extinct like the enforcer. |

I want to get serious for a second.
It’s become obvious this team lacks leadership. Starting at the head coach. Yes, I’m talking to you Willie.
The strategy is all wrong. Time needs to be given to top players. How the hell does hank and dank get their bling if Willie plays 4 lines? Same situation with Vrbata and Bonino. I mean, Vrbata was the huge free agent signing of the summer and he’s not being allowed to dominate. Is Bonino getting the same minutes as our second line centre last season? This “rolling” of 4 lines wasn’t needed before so why screw with success? Speaking of before, somebody on that coaching staff understood the necessity to play your best players as much as possible. But we’ll get to that in a moment.
Who gives a (frank) if Matthias, Richardson, Hansen, Hovat, Dorsett, Vey, and the other scubs have a combined 70+ points so early in the season? Not a hockey fan!
That brings me to Torts. The methodical thinker. Here’s a coach that understands how to use your best players. The definition of Coach isn’t a teacher or an instructor. It’s to be a leader who places an extraordinary amount of pressure on his top players to perform above their ability or understanding. That’s a recipe for success.
The way Torts delivered his message was so inspirational for players and fans alike. To be honest it was that FIRE that captured my attention. At first I thought his FIRE was born from his passion for hockey. But I was wrong. It was born from hate.
I knew my team had the leader it needed when Torts came right out and said he liked dogs more than he liked people. Awesome. Who needs a coach that can relate to people. We need a coach that hates. And I mean hates everybody. Why? Because you’re human.
My point being, a great coach has to hate his top players into being the best they can be and (frank) the rest of them. That attitude alone is going to get us to the promise land.

I think bi-polar Tuesday is universal. Below is a spat between Habs and leafs fan on TSN.
Carlos Smith
I recall a lot of Habs fans making fun of the Leafs and Phaneuf and Clarkson contracts in the off-season. Funny, but Phaneuf has 13 points and can actually play defence comapred to Subban (+11 vs. -1). Subban often doesn't look like he knows what he's doing in his own end. Clarkson, meanwhile, has 8 goals and 10 points in 26 games (would put him at 25 goals for season at this pace)....funny how only Pacioretty has more goals on the Habs at 12. Lastly, there was a lot of ridicule pointed toward the Leafs' off season signings (at $1 to $2 million no less).....Santiorelli 18pts., Komarov 16pts, Winnik 9pts and Robida +8....who signed the better players??
subban had a bad start i agree in the first 15 game -12 i think but he is doing better and better every game since about 10 game and now as you told us is only -1 it won't be long to get a better + and - than phaneuf. pacx are playing like a player of sallery of 7 millions and he only get paid about 4 millions what is the salary of clarkson and how many goal he scored last year?
Carlos Smith
last year is over so please stop harping on it....if Clarkson gets 20 or more goals, that was the expectation with his salary. Pacioretty is a one-dimensional player...how many assists does he get, how physical does he play? He scores, yes, but do you want to pay a guy whose career high in goals is 39 $8.5 million? You're already overpaying Subban. At least you got Price at a steal.

Terr
he adds 25 to 35 assists per year

Carlos Smith
career high is 65 points, got 60 points last year and is on pace for just under 60 this year. As you said, he gets some assists, but he's paid where he should be....Habs fans think this guy's a superstar though.

As of Nov 19, Subban is third among defensemen in the East in average time on ice at 25:00 per game. He has five goals and 12 points in 20 games. He leads all NHL defensemen with 103 points since the start of the 2012-13 season.

Why would Montreal have to pay Pacioretty 8.5 million for 39 goals? Pacioretty is signed through to 2019 @ 4.5 million. I don't even understand how you're trying to argue Pacioretty's contract here, it's pretty much agreed that it's one of the best contracts in the league (if not the best). And if you want to talk about one-dimensional players, what would you call Kessel? For 5 million more than Pacioretty a year, he put up 20 more points and finished a -5, Pacioretty a +8. Defensively Pacioretty is superior to Kessel, as even Leafs Brass stated that they don't care what Kessel does on the ice as long as he puts up points.

NOT 1 team would have given him this contract the $31.5 million Clarkson is owed over the next six seasons where $24.25 of it is to be paid in SIGNING BONUS money. Bonuses are 100 payable in a buyout, that leaves just $7.25 million that is subject to a buyout, which means it would cost the Leafs a grand total of $29.1 million, plus 12 years of varying cap hits on the books thru 2025-26, to buy Clarkson out + a NMC (con't go to minors) + a NTC (not team will take on that contract), NO TEAM OFFERED HIM THAT. Bottom line, you can't even buy him out, he would cost too much on the cap. It's on capgeek. But if you feel good about it and still think he gave you a hometown discount.... enjoy. |

WD has already lost the room- back to when he put Horvat on the spot, in the sanctity and sanctuary of the room, on camera and said "speech", and Horvat responded with I'm just happy to be here, what the feck do you want?
Not sue if that rumor of WD is true, just can't see him defecating on the logo in the middle of the room, damn that rug really tied the room together.
