Agreed on Embiid. In terms of potential, he's got the ability to be a force on both ends of the court. Like you said, Noel can be real good defensively but I don't see him ever being a beast offensively.
Did you hear that one of KJ McDaniels' blocked shots resulted in a fan getting a concussion? - five4fighting10
I love KJ. He's good for at least one ridiculous play per night. Go back and watch his college highlights. I think he led the ACC in blocks as a shooting guard. |

I'd like to see Couturier given more balanced zone starts and let the chips fall as they may. I'd like to see Laughton given more ice time. I'd like to see the young guys in the AHL be brought up towards the end of the year and given ample ice time. I'd like to see the coaches encourage creativity and not get on the players for every mistake. Just tell them to have fun and play hard. Basically, allow for a full evaluation of the young guys. - PhillySportsGuy
First of all calling up the young guys to play towards the end of the year, has it's detriments. That can affect the cap situation in the off season. How do you know the coaches aren't encouraging creativity, and that they're getting on the players for every mistake? |

Embiid. Noel might become an alright offensive player and elite defender.
If the Sixers win the lottery and you asked me Okafor or Embiid I wouldn't be sure. - PhillySportsGuy
yeah, i really dont see Noel having much in the way of offensive instincts. if he cant get it via his athleticism, right now, its not there.
although i guess in a sense its better to start with that, because fundamentals are more readily teachable than pure athleticism.
i guess its just hard on me to get a read on embiid. he was always hurt. other than a game here or there, it was difficult to really get to see him play. |

Nevermind. My idea is horrible. Let's keep the status quo. It's important we keep giving Couts poopty linemates against tough competition. It will toughen him up and make him better. Confidence is bullpoop. It means nothing in sports.
Berube is doing a great job with this group. Pulling all the right strings. It's really just bad luck so far. They consistently lose the possession battle 60-40% every night, but that poop means nothing. They just need to drink more energy drinks, which will help them play harder. In fact, let's just lace their Gatorade with cocaine.
We don't need changes to this team. We can just wait things out. Let's wait for the contracts to expire, let's let Berube coach out the rest of the season. So what if this roster is entirely on the books for next season. Those things can't be changed.
This is the same team that beat LA in LA. No changes necessary. They just need to play up to their potential, which CUP CALIBER HOCKEY!!!!! (frank) YEAH!!! LETS WIN THE CUP THIS YEAR!!! Let's get more big players. Bigger is always better. Thats why I (frank)ing love a big woman!!!! - PhillySportsGuy

Noel is still very raw. He'll get better offensively, but he'll never be a go to guy. He's already an above average defensive player and rim protector. Players are shooting around 40% against him at the rim. Thats elite status. He needs to bulk up, but having a guy who can anchor a defense is huge. Makes everyones job easier.
Embiid is actually pretty polished for a guy who hasn't played much basketball. If he stays healthy, his floor is still pretty high. He's got so much potential though. He has the potential to be one of the best players in the NBA. Plus, he's already the best tweeter. |

Absolutely
Of course I want them to win, but if they are going to have a down year, they may as well move any vets they reasonably can and load up on picks |

I try to extract some enjoyment out of it.
I have to admit, they're so bad I can't even find a way to make them sound worse and annoy anyone. I'm trending toward getting behind their inevitable playoff push in April. |

His blocking instincts are crazy for a kid his age, not to mention his size.

McDaniels is on pace to be a historic rookie when it comes to shot blocking. He's currently just the 59th rookie in NBA history to average 1.5 blocks. When you start adjusting for height, McDaniels is one of two rookies in NBA history that stand 6 feet 6 inches or shorter to average 1.5 blocks. Vince Carter did this as a rookie back in the lockout-truncated 1999 season, blocking 77 shots in 50 games.
If McDaniels has a full bill of health this season, he'll finish around 120 blocks for his rookie season. Of all players 6-6 or shorter, Ron Harper is the current leader for most blocked shots in a rookie season at 84. McDaniels would blow that away. He would also join Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Julius Erving, Gar Heard, and Carter as the only 6-6 or shorter players to average 1.5 blocks in any season. |

At this point, I'm enjoying watching the top line, the top pp unit, Mason and Laughton.
Sadly, the rest of this team makes we want to abuse narcotics |

im having a hard time coming up with a contemporary comparison for embiid. its been a little while since i really followed basketball closely. i still like the game very much, but the actual league itself isnt something i put under a microscope anymore. but i do still have intrigue, especially with seeing how guys pan out from college to the pros.
noel is pretty much projected to be that lanky 4 right, whereas embiid is the more traditional center. is there any concern for overlap between the two players? |
