No, he's right. The fact that we haven't traded him means that he sucks and has no value. I mean, no teams have traded for Sidney Crosby yet, and would you try to argue that he has any value? Clearly, he doesn't, or somebody would have traded for him by now. Giroux, Stamkos, Toews...go on and on down the line, and these players clearly suck or else they'd have been traded by now. - jmatchett383
you're insane if you think coburn is as good as stamkos or crosby |

Nevermind. My idea is horrible. Let's keep the status quo. It's important we keep giving Couts poopty linemates against tough competition. It will toughen him up and make him better. Confidence is bullpoop. It means nothing in sports.
Berube is doing a great job with this group. Pulling all the right strings. It's really just bad luck so far. They consistently lose the possession battle 60-40% every night, but that poop means nothing. They just need to drink more energy drinks, which will help them play harder. In fact, let's just lace their Gatorade with cocaine.
We don't need changes to this team. We can just wait things out. Let's wait for the contracts to expire, let's let Berube coach out the rest of the season. So what if this roster is entirely on the books for next season. Those things can't be changed.
This is the same team that beat LA in LA. No changes necessary. They just need to play up to their potential, which CUP CALIBER HOCKEY!!!!! (frank) YEAH!!! LETS WIN THE CUP THIS YEAR!!! Let's get more big players. Bigger is always better. Thats why I (frank)ing love a big woman!!!! - PhillySportsGuy

At this point, I'm enjoying watching the top line, the top pp unit, Mason and Laughton.
Sadly, the rest of this team makes we want to abuse narcotics - BiggE

im having a hard time coming up with a contemporary comparison for embiid. its been a little while since i really followed basketball closely. i still like the game very much, but the actual league itself isnt something i put under a microscope anymore. but i do still have intrigue, especially with seeing how guys pan out from college to the pros.
noel is pretty much projected to be that lanky 4 right, whereas embiid is the more traditional center. is there any concern for overlap between the two players? - stayinthefnnet
Embiid has a decent jumper, so that could help with floor spacing a bit. He's really not like any modern player. His movements and athleticism remind people of Olajuwon, but it's not fair to compare him to one of the greatest players of all time. He's a bit of an old school type center.
We'll see how things play out with the two of them. The Sixers are just in a position of acquiring assets. They would probably take Okafor, who is a PF/C, if they land the top pick this year.
It would be like if the Flyers got the 3rd pick and took Hanifin even thought hey already have a bunch of defensive prospects. You just take the best player available and evaluate later. The NHL is never short on teams looking for young defenseman like the NBA is never short on teams looking for young big men. |

yeah, exactly.
i cant see a team not taking okafor, regardless of position of need. i really have no emotional ties to the sixers whatsoever, but i have to admit, they are an extremely interesting case study right now.
its just hard to win in the NBA without that one guard/small forward playmaking floor general. |

They have a ton of cap space too and the cap is going to increase. They can always go out and snag one in FA. In a couple years, they may be a very attractive option for a FA. They'd have everything in place and just need one more piece. That may be more appealing for a FA than going to another team, forming a big 3 and trying to piece together the roster from scratch. |

totally understandable. like i said, i think the whole tanking thing works best in basketball. less moving parts.
one player can make the difference in that sport more so than any other. not that it would necessarily happen, but if the sixers suddenly convinced kevin durant to come there when his deal is up. hed be out of the perilous western conference, and could theoretically have a still young and decent point guard to get him the ball, and noel and embiid inside. that roster would likely contend to make it the finals. (even discounting whatever assets the sixers would likely accumulate this year and next)
in hockey, there are too many moving parts. For as good as stamkos is, if he says (frank) it and goes to toronto when his deal is up, yes, i think he makes them playoff contenders. but i dont think he would single handedly be able to vault them into that upper crust. |

It's just all about being patient with the Sixers. They are going to come out of this with some decent talent even if some of them are busts. I'm just glad they aren't that 41-41 team that has Iguodala as their best player. |
