His ozone penalty cost them a goal... as bad as they played for 40 mins, that represented the margin of victory last night.

They lost 3-2 in OT last night.

I would blame the bad cross ice pass at the end of the shift as what cost them.

As of today, I think it's fair to look at Matt Read and start asking some hard questions. Because it's fair to ponder if his performance is such that you can get what he is currently doing at a cheaper cap hit.

I haven't watched last nights game from last night yet. I may not now lol... But that wouldn't be the first time this year.

Its very frustrating other players get called out for not performing when they haven't been put in the best position to succeed. Rinaldo has been given every opportunity in the world to succeed but still loses games for the team with just his stupidity.

Calling him useless is actually giving him too much credit.

You totally can. He's playing like a 2 million dollar winger at his very best this year.

I would be looking at a lot of players and checking on value and I have to assume Hextall is not niave and is gauging how the TDL might look. Playoff teams that need defensive and scoring depth I am sure he will be seeing if he can make deals with Coburn, Read, Vinny, Umberger, MacDonald, L.Schenn, Rinaldo

Probably one of the few players who actually comes to play every night. Plays hard no matter the score.
Yes he isn't as skilled as you would like. But your bringingh up a payer that at least he shows gives a damn.

Of the problems withs this team Rinaldo is way down. I would prefer to look at guys like:

Read
Coburn
Couturier
L.Schenn
Vinny
Umberger
MacDonald

I would prefer to fix those things before worrying about Rinaldo

- J35Bacher

So tired of hearing that. Takes ill timed, bad penalties every night and we applaud him when he doesnt. His skill is too thin to be productive at NHL level. OBVIOUSLY the team has other problems, but would be willing to bet the player most often in the box when this team is scored on is Rinaldo.

With the right deal, I would say anybody on this team is trade bait. Jake, G and Mason are close to untouchable, but I would move them for the right deal.

2 wins in the last 13 games. One against a depleted Jackets team with no Bobrovsky, and the other against the Kings where they were completely dominated for 40 minutes, only Mason standing on his head got them 2 points.

Spend the most money in the NHL and be bottom of the League team... Completely unacceptable. Snider is proud of them though. He's home baking the team cookies today.

I'm just hoping to enjoy the lottery pick and the extra picks they obtain at the deadline.

Thats all I got at the moment

Yeah, he's not the biggest problem, but he's by far the easiest one to fix. Send him down to LHV where he belongs, so he can play Who's the Bigger Dummy with his old buddy Rosebud and Stortini.

and it's not the first time that he's done that, there was a very recent game where he took a stupid penalty right off the bat and everybody just seemed so deflated.

rags game maybe?

Where are all the orange koolaid posters today? Funny what happens after losing 11 of 13. I'm sure they'll ask many of us to eat crow when we get a SO win over the 2003 ECF all star team thursday

If Rinaldo can get them a 3rd... Hexy gets forgiven for the Hartnell trade.

But yeah, sell baby sell.

Heres hoping they actually add a few picks at the deadline. Getting a first for Coburn would be a huge step in the right direction.

The biggest reason I am concerned is that, as noted, Sean Couturier is only 21 years old. Yes, he is still developing and can sometimes look inconsistent offensively.

But the Flyers haven't exactly gone out of their way to give him two wingers that are consistent, either.

Some of Couturier's wingers have been Zac Rinaldo, the 2014 version of RJ Umberger, Max Talbot, the 2014 version of Matt Read, an injured Steve Downie -- now currently on Pittsburgh's top line, I read -- and Vincent Lecavalier.

The best he looked this season was with B.Schenn on his wing. Schenn got hot, and he gets promoted.

Couturier...gets Umberger back.

I said it last year and I am saying it now: The Flyers need to double down and find this kid two wingers who are consistent. Not streaky, like Simmonds. Not defensive specialists or guys who are declining.

They need to get this kid two wingers who can actually play consistent hockey, two ways.

Honestly, IDC which one of Laughton or Coots develops enough o-game to be counted on as the 2C... just need one of them to. It's starting to look like Laughton is the more dangerous player.

No sense in trading either of them for D. The kid cavalry is coming.

That would be something i would like. I would like get a younger winger and more offensivly skilled then Read.

I would love to use Coburn and Read and get a package of a 1st rounder, high end prospect and maybe depth forward. I think you could realy get that from a playoff team as Coburn and Read bring value to a team looking to make a run.

There's the issue though. How do you get a 3rd line Center wingers that are that consistent? Because as it Laughton is our 2nd line Center.

This proposal sounds pretty good, but there are not going to be many playoff teams that can absorb that salary

YES!

This. I would love a top 5 Lotto pick.

Need to acquire a couple of second rounders however possible.

Exactly. Even if we land McDavid, I still wouldn't rush to trade one of them. Hopefully Hextall won't try and land the next Luke Schenn.

I am glad that Laughton looks like he can mesh well with Simmonds, which has been helpful.

But I think it would be a crime to just have Couturier stagnate into a player who does little more than check. You can see the flashes of what he can be when he has wingers who aren't killing offensive zone time.

He hasn't always made the most of his opportunities to drive the net and make plays. But when your wingers are Umberger and Lecavalier, what does anyone expect him to do? Hint: Sisyphus never gets to the mountain top
