While I'm not thrilled with Berube, firing him before the end ofvthe season is pointless. Look at the crap he's had to work with:
Shot vets who should retire: VLC & RJ
Minor leaguers: Akeson, VDV, Jones
Borderline 4th liner: Rinaldo
Generic 4th liner: Bellemare
Top 9 player whos playing like poop: Read
3rd liners: Coots, Laughton and Raffl
That leaves only 4 forwards who are legit top 6 players
And on D:
3rd pair guys: CC, Schenn, Schultz,
Borderline 2nd pair guys: MDZ, AMac, Grossmann
Solid 2nd pair guy: Streit
2/3 guy who is struggling as the top guy: Coburn
This is not a playoff roster, that is simply reality - BiggE
It's more about how a team comes together and plays as a team, than any arbitrary ranking of individual players. |

I am glad you pick reason 37 of things wrong with this team.
Rinaldo is really low compared to some of the problems following this team.
Right now I would ask Read just like Coach Chadwick did in youngblood....

meh. he'll never amount to anything. |

I think fear of making it look too obvious, I think the league would be quick to slap a huge fine or penalize the flyers a high draft pick if it's as obvious as the Sixers and penguins.
Edit: I also think fear many flyers fans would be highly upset to waste a year in Giroux's and Voracek's prime - flyerscup2011
I don't think it would be though.. it's what they've been doing, only more deliberately.. lol Just file it under the excuse "trying to shake things up to get the team going"..
Sixers.. yeahhhhh.. that's a different story.. haha I can't believe they're even being so transparent about it.. |

Where are all the orange koolaid posters today? Funny what happens after losing 11 of 13. I'm sure they'll ask many of us to eat crow when we get a SO win over the 2003 ECF all star team thursday - Just5
there's nothing positive to say, no "objective" way to look at it. aside from a small # of well identified players, the team (frank)ing blows chunks. and there's nothing wrong with saying it. nobody in here gets any satisfaction or joy out of the state of the team, and it's foolish to think otherwise. |

if he's attractive why haven't teams been lining up to pay for him - 2Real
We don't know if he's being shopped. My only point is if he is put on the market, quite a few teams would be interested and he should bring back a nice return. But then again...

Sixers just said (frank) it. I see your point about the flyers tanking not being too obvious, we did lose Timonen unexpectedly and his advanced stats say he's a great player. But we don't know if the league issued them sort of warning, I think the Umberger trade may have raised their suspicion. I mean the jackets were just going to buy him out and if anyone signed him it would have been around a million per year. Just speculation on my part. |

No, he's right. The fact that we haven't traded him means that he sucks and has no value. I mean, no teams have traded for Sidney Crosby yet, and would you try to argue that he has any value? Clearly, he doesn't, or somebody would have traded for him by now. Giroux, Stamkos, Toews...go on and on down the line, and these players clearly suck or else they'd have been traded by now. |

I have to say, that calling the trip "So-So" is a bit generous. 4 points out of ten is not anything to be happy about, although there were signs of a potential turn around.
Decemeber looks like it could be a good chance for the Flyers to at least stockpile some points, if not gain much ground standings wise. - Jsaquella
they flat out sucked, and that they got some of these points is a miracle. i see a lifeless, listless, disinterested team which is not improving as a whole. they could have been buoyed by their win in la, a game they didn't deserve to win but did, against a still heavily injured team that's in their way. instead, they looked like they'd really rather be anywhere else but on the ice. they had 15 shots on goal with 5 minutes remaining, most of them very low quality - but managed to wake themselves up, and put a few more on net, one of them barely squeaking through to tie the game. fittingly, they lost in ot because of a bonehead play. last night was a joke. |

Would people be okay with the following at the deadline?
Coburn for 1st and B level prospect
Read for a 2nd and 3rd
Rinaldo for 3rd - hereticpride
um yes. signed sealed and delivered.
Id even throw in a guy like Dumolin, while not a top level A prospect, is right there in the next tier and is essentially NHL ready now. |

So apparently, the Sixers are trying a new angle to get fans to come to games.
