True, been to the edm boards? Imagine making a big trade with them. You'd have your work cut out for you.

Hoping Islanders downward spiral will start with last night's game and Halak injury.

The other side, is that there is no guarantee that they would have had the first overall with Vanek.

This is the sort of thing that you can't evaluate on the basis of this one trade alone, though. If the offer sheet incapacitates your GM, it destroys the franchises ability to do transactions with the balance of the league across multiple deals, for a considerable period of time.

2014-15 NHL save%
Enroth .918
Miller .905

- homiedclown

And Miller had a .923 on the Sabres last year... Enroth? .911

Don't compare goalies across 2 different teams. Miller has been a defibrillator for the Nucks this year, despite the save percentage.

PS miller is facing fewer shots in Vancouver.

There's no gaurantee they would've been 1st overall, but a pretty big gaurantee that Vanek would've done nothing to solve their problems. Vanek is not a building block player but merely a complimentary piece. Hopefully all those "Vanek would be a 50 goal scorer with a true C" people figured that out by now after his 50 game stint on the island.

honestly I think both goalies perform better when they see a lot of action

Max Scherzer turned down a $144MM deal from Detroit.

Scott Boras wants $200MM+ from his client and will most likely get it.

And Baseball doesn't need a salary cap.

It's funny. Every year we hear about how teams don't want to deal with Boras

And every year he ends up getting exactly what he wants.

Yep, ridiculous. I've never been a Vanek fan. Because he had a couple 40 goal seasons all his fans thought he was this monster of a goal scorer. From watching the games he was just like anderchyuck (f spelling). Tip ins, garbage goals, rebounds... Vanek could never snipe a goalie at will like Stamkos or score clutch goals like Drury and dare I say it... Derek Roy.

Vaneks label as a pure goal scorer was ironically represented well when he was in the shootout... Clapper from the hash marks.

If I had the time and energy to go back in the archives I'm pretty sure I can recall a few clown pro-Vanek posts circa 4 years ago... But I'll have to go on clouded memory since I don't feel like proving it..

Meh, Just does not do a lot for me. I want guys who are established. Perron at 26 could be a key.

We could add to the trade and give up a mid-level prospect with it.

Edmonton is looking for a Stewart like player so who knows.

Who knows what value Stewart has though?

- ImThatGuy

Loui Eriksson can play either wing.

He's the guy I'd like to see them get along with possibly Boedeker.

His value has to be pretty low atm, that's why a Stewart for Morin trade makes some sense. Both guys need a change.
- mhp

To me Morin seems like the guy that's an AHL All Star but can't produce at the NHL level.
