Boston waited over 40 years.
You hope the number one dman is in the ranks. Morin or Sanheim or maybe if you do make a deal for Myers he plays to potential. People forget that Chara wasn't an instant monster. The islanders gave up on him and then Ottawa picked Redden over him.
I just hope that Hextall was part of a build in LA and knows what is needed to bring a cup here. - J35Bacher
Even if there is a # 1 dman in the Flyers current prospect pool (that is a huge if) he's years away from being that type of player. |

their schedule seems to soften up as the season goes on, but between a seven point gap to bridge and the general lack of cohesion, I'm not so optimistic. - BulliesPhan87
The lower part of their division isn't that good. I think it's going to be tough, but I think they'll get close. Either squeak in or fall a few points short, but they have to turn it around pretty soon. It doesn't matter, because Murray isn't giving up Myers and taking on both Lecavalier and Umberger for the Flyers first pick, no matter where it falls. |

I'm really hoping some trade comes along a la the Gomez for Higgins and McDonagh deal, where the Flyers are the ones trading the Gomez-type. |

it sure (frank)ing feels like it. especially during this time of year.
right now im turning a notebook and a half full of notes into one usable outline. a process that should take roughly a week, but im going to try to do it in one night, because due to the complexity of my other classes, ive basically treated this one like a vinny and gave it the old healthy scratch throughout the course of the year. |

Tough being patient with a 40 year Cup drought, and no ending in sight. But what other choice do we have? Hextall did inherit a mess. I know things can change quickly, but hard to see where that true # 1 dman is coming from. - PLindbergh31
they've got some interesting prospects at d and f right now...i think this will be a vastly different flyers team in 3 years. perhaps a legit contender in 4-5. and if they tank it right, that path can be accelerated, unless of course our franchise player becomes dismembered in a farming accident over the summer. |

If you want an upstart coach i would take Blashill in Grand Rapids. Seems like those kids that come up to Detriot are fully prepared. I prefer a new coach over a retread at this point. |

I'll help you out. Ways to win a case as a lawyer:
1. Always arrive promptly, dress nicely, and loudly announce your arrival, such as screaming, "Who's the best (frank)ing lawyer ever!!!" as you walk in.
2. When addressing the judge, always smile and wink at him. If you're a defense lawyer, always call the prosecutor "the liar over there." If you're the prosecutor, always refer to the defendant as "the bumhole."
3. Always end every session of questioning with, "And that's the way the cookie crumbles."
You're welcome. |

I guess we'll see, regarding where they finish. As for the trade scenario, you don't even think they do that for first overall? |

If Hextall did that deal with this draft class, I'd be done as a fan. - JFlyers00
If Myers develops into a stud #1 defenseman, and the Flyers use the cap space gained to shore up other areas of the team, you'd jump back on the fan bus real quick. |

You're right, Couturier is a bust. I mean, he's not like Patrice Bergeron, the defensive standout who scored a whopping 8 goals and 39 points in 64 games in his fourth season, the point where Couturier is now in his career. And really, that Boston team sucked that year, only being the 2nd best team in the NHL, compared to the offensive and defensive juggernaut that is the 14/15 Flyers. We should trade him for the first offer that comes along. - jmatchett383
this is so misleading, had to respond. PB had already scored 31 goals by his 2nd yr. his regression was directly related to the severe concussion problems he had from the jones hit. Couts is no bergeron, but w/ some improvements in his game he could end up being a 60 pt guy. |

think about it. toronto, montreal, vancouver. major, major markets. then think about poop markets like tampa, miami, phx, carolina etc...it makes sense. and all the more reason the league should get out of poop markets and into better ones...and that includes canada. - hammarby31
Yup. I just didn't think the number would be that high. Then again, Canadian don't have to split their entertainment budget between a bunch of other sports. It would seem to make sense to add another Canadian team or two. |

So Luke Schenn in for MDZ, while the assorted untouchables remain in.
This mess isn't all Berube's fault. He got dealt a bad hand. But he's playing it poorly. It's like he's at the World Series of Poker asking if anyone has any threes. |

If his owner were willing to 'buy' that top-10 pick, you bet your ass Murray would do that trade in an instant. Even for a top-20 pick. With the way Myers has been playing, he's Luke Schenn on an albatross contract. |

haha sounds foolproof to be.
Ahem.
Who's the best (frank)ing lawyer ever. The plaintiff Mr. Rutherford demands restitution for the Defendant, Mr. Hextall, unduly influencing the plaintiff at his nursing home, promising him to visit again and play a game of checkers in exchange for Rutherford's cup of green jello, to which Mr Rutherford is entitled to as a resident. However, after obtaining the jello through such reliance of agreement, defendant subsequently failed to return to visit Rutherford AT ANY POINT.
Rather than request specific performance, Rutherford requests the court institute alternative means of restitution, namely, the deliverance of one Matt Read, to be given in trust to Rutherford's employer, in exchange for one Brian Dumolin and a second round pick.
And that's the way the cookie crumbles. |

eastern canada could support another toronto based team and a quebec team. consider that there 5 teams between boston, hartford, nyr, nyi, and njd in that narrow of a region at one point. does the nyc metropolitan area need 3 hockey teams? no.
not sure where else across canada could support any additional nhl squads that would be any different than bad american markets now. saskatoon was floated as a potential spot a long time ago. don't think that would fly.
in the us, the teams need to move north. simple as that. |
