Agree with Frenchie on this one. That's edging into "Scott Gomez" bad territory.

I would say lecavalier, but i think you have to have some high pre-season expectations to be a disappointment, he's more of a disappointed, but not surprised kind of player.

He still is having issues with his wrist. It was (frank)ed up all of last season and he had surgery on it this summer... it's still not good.

But even so, good lord has he been invisible so far.

Maybe he'll retire or jump ship for the KHL?

He's really not an effective player without his shot. That has always been his M.O. He's not a grinder or a playmaker, and he doesn't crash the net... without his shot he doesn't bring anything to the table.

It would be a blessing if he jumped to the KHL.

I heard he's been in the press box several times this season. Flyers pushing him to consider retiring?

Henrik - his contract is what makes him dissapointing to me. he has played well at times, but not the best goalie in the league(which is what he is being paid like).
McKinnon did the same thing every 2nd year player does to no avail -they put on weight and lose speed. after he loses some weight and regames his speed he will be back at it.

Problem with Semin is numbers.

Only way he gets traded is if Canes keep max cap(50%)... well, at $3.5M he's still useless... he has absolutely no value. Is he worth $3.5M for the Canes to keep him? No. Is he worth $3.5M to any of the other 29 teams? No.

Then there is the buyout option. His buyout is $2.333M for 6 years(Capgeek). Is he currently worth more that $2.33M to play in NC...? No. He is putting up 13th forward/fringe AHLer numbers.

Thanks JR

I made the mistake of drafting Semin on my fantasy team. I gave up on him a few weeks ago. His numbers are much worse than players ranked hundreds of spots below him in fantasy rankings. There are currently dozens of undrafted players in my league with better numbers.

Semin is the type of player who flourishes on teams with a lot of talent because this enables him to loaf when he doesn't feel like putting out 100% effort and he can get away with not helping out much defensively. On teams with talent issues like Carolina he wilts. Fortunately his salary will make it impossible for the Pens to consider a trade for him.

Sidney Crosby since he hasn't scored 70 goals and 200 points yet. I mean, come on, we're 27 games in. What the hell is wrong with him?

He's done. Should just hang em up. This is Nick Spaling's team now.

The unfortunate thing is that you have to overpay to get quality players. The skill in signing "big-name" free agents is not to get them under a manageable contract (you won't), but to ensure that you're signing a guy that can make the first half of the contract justify the second half.

With this in mind I wonder what the Washington Capitals were thinking after seeing Orpik getting burned by John Scott last month, only a month or so after beginning his five year contract with the team. Think of how bad Orpik is going to look in the fifth year. I know it takes defensemen more time to acclimate to a new team but no NHL-caliber defensemen should ever get beat by John Scott in any circumstance. I wouldn't say that Orpik is a bust because I didn't expect him to do well after his last year with the Pens.

Oh surprise, surprise the devils blogger picks a rangers player. Sorry just had to get my dig in there. Unfortunately I agree with him though, but would equally say Krieder.

Everyone is saying that Lundqvist is a slow starter, so I would say Kopitar. He is supposed to be elite and he is far from there as we speak. Semin is not even close to elite at this point. Was a few years ago. I would name Skinner way before Semin.

Yeah, expectations were strangely high on him this year. I guess he played well on Ottawa, but Mac T was criticized for not getting more for him at the deadline. Looks to me like Mac T got exactly what he worth after all . Sweet (frank) all.

Cody Hodgson by a mile, what is the deal with that guy?

1 goal and 2 assists in 28 games averaging 14 minutes of ice time.

Last year 20 goals + 24 assists

Seems to be a head case.
