I'm starting to think that any canuck coach has to realize the travel schedule has a huge effect on these players and needs to be addressed appropriately. Too many times (no matter what version) I've seen this team falter purely on the reason of player exhaustion. It's not poor systems or lack of talent that causes these stretches of poor play. It always seems to be fatigue.

Has to be the toughest schedule in the NHL (maybe 2nd behind edmonton).

I know it's not acceptable to rest players but the NBA does it all the time and nobody thinks less of them. Saw a broadcast that mentioned canucks visiting the Spurs management group to see how they manage their veteran players and how they have kept them so healthy. I believe the answer was sitting players only to rest them not because of injury or poor play.
I think the canucks are doomed never to get to the promise land because they will never have a healthy roster to compete to their fullest.

Hard to argue that the travel schedule puts them at a disadvantage. As much as we make fun MG's sleep doctors, he probably looked into knowing that the travel is much harder for the Canucks than most of the league. I do feel like we'd see a bigger discrepancy between the home and road record if it was a huge factor though. Injuries destroyed the team last year, but overall in recent years I don't think the Canucks have been hit as bad as some other teams.

Yeah, I really wanted him as well. I was hoping to offer a deal involving Krejci to spark his interest.

You think we're the only team with constant let downs for the fans?!?!? 29 teams are let down every year..... its the Vancouver way to complain about (frank)ing everything. The weather, the canucks etc etc etc

44 seasons of successfully not winning the cup? Never have won the cup? Watched expansion team after expansion team get the cup and in non-traditional hockey markets? Watched management group after management group self-implode? And being so close 3 times only to have it taken away in excruciating manner?

There are fans of the other 29 teams that have experience the same constant letdown as us fans?

I think not.

I'm not so convinced that the home games are the benefit they were in the past. The canucks touch down in vancouver for 1 to 3 games and then off again on the road. That happens regularly. And there seems to be more back to backs league wide.

It's the number of trips made, length of travel, and the time changes experienced that is so tiring. The NHL did try to align the divisions more in tune with time zones but the canucks situation is unique. Maybe this team needs to be managed in a unique way?

Me too. There is still a lot of hockey to be played and, as mentioned, injuries could really have an impact.

I could accept injuries causing us to miss the playoffs, if the team just can't score... well maybe a good draft position could help in the future. We are a couple players deeper than last year, but it is as though Vrbata has replaced Burrows' production and we still need top6 help.

You know Bloated - before the Kings won their first Stanley Cup in 2012 they'd gone 45 years without one, also, Kings fans were calling for Lombardi's head.

Lombardi was hired by the Kings in April of 2006. He slowly built up a stockpile of younger players through the draft when the opportunity arose (Doughty, Martinez, King, Voynov, B. Schenn & Simmonds), traded for guys like Stoll and Matt Greene and then made those two trades for Richards and Carter - boom they won - it just takes someone who knows how to build, and I think we may have that guy in Jim Benning.

Lets see where he takes us!!

I hope you are right. I just hate the fact that we have to wait and be patient. Again.

I know, as a guy who's almost 50 I'm sure you can understand my frustration with the Canucks. But this is where I'm from, I'll never cheer for anyone else. I follow the Flyers because I like them in the 80's but it's not the same.

St Louis 46 years, never won. Toronto 47 years, never won in the modern day era. Buffalo 43 years, never won. Washington 39 years, never won. Winnipeg/Arizona 35 years, never won.

We're not alone but the one constant with teams that have never won it, or teams like the Leafs who've never won since the original six days, is poor management. I'm sincerely hopeful they got it right this time!! Please God...

We've had what appears to be two decent drafts with four first round picks in Virtanen, McCann, Horvat and Shinkaruk. They've also made some other good picks in Cassels, Demko and Tryamkin, not to mention Jensen, I think he's going to be a good player given some time to develop, it's all about patience with the draft and develop part of things.

Vancouver radio has been pretty down on Kasian lately coming just short of calling him a bust here. Just curious do most here agree and interested in trading him?

In a trade what kind of return would people be happy with?

I'm sure Buffalo would trade him back for Hodgson:

I hope we don't trade him it would be stupid. We wouldn't get much for him at this point and I would rather just wait and see and possibly get nothing than to dump him before we know for certain what he is
Edit: only trade I would be interested in would be for a young up-and-coming PMD with at least a top 4 ceiling

Hodgson's skating has been an issue since his surgery. He would just be another Burrows here slow and painful to watch at this point. No thanks. Kassian hopefully will come around in a bit here...

The '82 final, I would have been happy with just 1 win.
Both '94 & 2011 ripped my heart out and buggered my soul.
