This is not some fabrication, I have it on good word that Pittsburgh has discussed Morin with the Hawks. - wiz1901
With their injuries, it makes sense. Especially if they're despirate enough to acquire Col. Klink for help. |

I thought the Rangers have 2-3 mill in space. - tredbrta
Nope. $868K or $2.6Mil at the deadline. Spread between Kreider and Sharp is $3.5mil.
Like I said, I doubt the Hawks are retaining any of that, especially since it would be spread across 2 years. |

Just sayin....He had some great number in the AHL/IHL and those 2 seasons in Pitt with Mario feeding him. Knew how to finish, rest of his game was kinda meh.
Put Morin on one of Crosby's wings and just let him shoot? Maybe. |

If it is just Morin I hope Stan gets a 3rd or better for him next year. |

A 3rd is probably the best your going to get for him.
He may just be one of those players that just tops out as a minor leaguer/4th liner/garbage time player. He is not talentless, but doesn't show enough overall to beat anyone out. |

I just think there is a lot more to what happens in regualr season that neeeds fixing before the real season and read and reacted improperly. - wiz1901

Agreed. Looks like a strong draft so a 3rd is probably it unless the Hawks add something. Would love to see the Hawks have multiple picks in any of the higher rounds this year. |

Dude, ease up, I'd hate to see you get banned. I agree with your analysis. Not a dirty hit. Kane was wise not to throw. But thats the kind of play that gets the whole League's attention when everyone's trying to stop a major skill and skating binge. The borderline hits will keep coming and get worse; standing pat and relying on some Band-of-brothers code of gallantry to protect skill players is more an "imaginary tale" than anything I posted. Bickell is not scaring anyone. Richards will never hold as 2C. Recent streak proves Crawford and Sharp are expendable. Hawks need cap relief. Ducks need sniper fwd w Perry hurt anf goalie help. What of this tale doesnt ring true. The happy ending to my tale? Kesler! - meta_puck_luck

Nope...see above.
If the Cubs couldn't win in 2004 and 2008 with loaded teams, I told myself to walk away and I did.
Been Cub free since 2008. Just hate to see people wishing on a star when it comes to the Cubs.
It's NOT gonna happen..... - SteveRain
As a White Sox fan, that's what I had come to expect every year since D!ck Allen was swing'n for the fence...then 2005 happened...so ya just never know.
And I had no confidence the Hawks would ever win a cup...now they have 2 recently and a shot every year at another. |

We all wish that the Hawks will get a third rounder for Morin. Realistically , we will probably only get a fourth. Every team knows the Hawks have given up on Morin.
IMO, the Bears are going to wait another season before they fire the coaches and trade Cuttler. I think a lot of Cuttlers Contract included a big chunk of up front money. That means after next years season Cuttlers salary would be much more manageable for a trade. We all know how cheap the McCaskey clan is. They will have to give up to much money and we all know that woen't happen. Truthfully, it might be best to wait another year before cleaning house because you than can trade Cuttler at the same time so the new coaching does not have to handle the biggest cancer on the Bears...CUTTLER. |

Just a question - if a player's contract can be terminated (Brunner), why hasn't Phil terminated Pronger's? Why did the league have a buyout then? |

In Brunner's case, both sides agreed to terminate the contract. I don't think Pronger could do the same, because his is 35+ deal and would have to be bought out. Not a lot of benefit in doing that - cap wise. Besides, why would Pronger want to walk away from $15 million owed to him? |

Hey Rain, how many more shots could Bickell take if he runs cleanly the guy on his side with the puck. The center can pick off the erant pass or loose puck, Bickell can then post up for a feed and shoot. All night. The old saying - you get out what you put in - applies in this case. Brutal stats suggests brutal effort. - 6628
Bickell's problem is that he is lazy. Watch him the next game or two. It's clear he goes out of his way from extending himself...

God this team is on a tear. Great fun to watch.
Things to remember:
1. While not much to complain about lately at all, still the maddening tendency to ice dance the perimeter playing keep away on the power play resurfaces.
2. Organizational depth is now paying real dividends. The more recent crop of Hogs are proving they have what it takes not just to fill in, but to contribute.
3. I really think the "sort of" consistency of line partners is helping team chemistry.
4. Darling - told ya so long ago. Kid has something to prove and he is doing just that. But he is NOT a Crawford replacement. He likely will graduate to #2. Still a lot to learn and refine in his NHL game, but his upside IMHO is much higher than Raanta.
5. Unless a major player suffers a serious injury, safe to say don't fix what aint broke.
6. Finally - a little perspective - the Hawks played depleted ANA and NJ squads and struggle most against physical and trapping teams. Were it not for 33 last night BOS had that game.
Depth - might be the greatest asset. Keep playing the kids. Now that the Hayes/Beach/etc era has ended, nothing but good can come from this crop of Hogs going forward. |

McCaskeys care about money. that's it. Always have, always will. No care in the world about winning. That's why they won't fire Trestman or cut/trade (eat salary) of Jay.
Just awful. Biggest laughing stock in Chicago. Worse then the Cubs. - SteveRain
Not just here Steve but a national laughingstock. The problem is with upper management - the McCaskeys have no clue to what they're doing. This is a team that hasn't had a real GM since they got rid of Jerry Vainisi in 86. This is the team that hired a firm for 300k to find Angelo- who was in their own division with Tampa at the time.
This is the team that hired Phil Emery who was a glorified scout here several years ago. Emery wanted the coach of the year in Bruce Arians to do a mock press conference and wanted him to take on Lovie's boy Marinelli...(let's be clear here the Bears defense has sucked since they got rid of Ron Rivera after the Superbowl in 2006. The next season Bob Babich was installed - Lovie said trust me and the Bears got beaten 31-3 in Greenbay that year).
Instead Emery hires Trestman as well as the assistants and it's been all downhill. And he hands a horrible QB a huge contract. They need to blow up the entire thing, but are looking for any reason not to to save all that cash. Because the McCaskeys are nothing if not cheap. And they need to put Ted Phillips in a room somewhere where he's not allowed to have anything to do with hiring anyone on the football side.
And now on top of everything else Kromer is the guy that leaked the story about Jay to the NFL network. How does Cutler or anyone else in the building trust that guy...just another symptom of the disease. |

It drives me crazy that we have a team that has won two championships in four years and a contender again this year and while they get more coverage than they used to get they still get short changed by the media here. There is however no lack of coverage for the dysfunctional Bears.

I realize this is a Hawks thread... BUT....
I have never seen what transpired with the Bears over the last day or two. You have a coach who goes off the record to completely throw the person he works closest with, then cries in front of the players and apologizes. What do the Bears FO do? Nothing. They trot Kromer out there & make certain that he says NOTHING.
Matt Bowen, who I like an awful lot, hit the nail on the head very early yesterday morning before the press conferences. He said that in the two years that Trestman has been here he (nor Emery) have ever held their coaches or players accountable. Never. Bowen said that it was not going to start today, and he was correct. How can these players actually play for these coaches moving forward? I'm so far from a meatball fan, but honestly everyone needs to be let go including Phil Emery. He drafted Shea, completely screwed the pooch with the Trestman hire, and built this team this season believing it was a contender. All massive miscalculations on his part.
This franchise is pathetic and it is about time that the McClaskey's (Hi Russ Grimm!) actually hire a football person to oversee ALL of the football operation.
Signed,
Disgusted Bear fan |

There's something really wrong with this Hawks team. Something is missing, they aren't very good and will be lucky to be a 6-8 seed.
That Kane kid? Totally NOT worth the contract he signed. Remember guys... this team is NOT one of the better teams in the league. |
