The rumor is that Roy can be very difficult to work with, if your lips are not firmly planted on his ass cheeks.
Pracey's brought some good young talent into Colorado's system. I'm all for a guy that has shown he can do that elsewhere being added to the mix. - Jsaquella
Just need more picks to put his talents to good use. |

I hope you are right on target with the higher but if this guy was let go because he couldn't get along with a coach two months into his second season, that's really stupid. You could suggest this scout set the table for Roy. With this said, the Oilers have a lot of solid young talent but the Oilers as a whole can't seem to get it together. - SuperSchennBros
Perhaps it was the coach that forced the issue? Patrick Roy doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to being easy to work with.
Also, several big media names suggested that Pracey was highly regarded when he left Colorado. Elliotte Friedman flat out said, "He won't be unemployed long"
You can have a ton of young talent, but it has to work together. Pracey wasn't GM in Colorado and he's not the GM in Edmonton. His job is to collect the talent. he's done well in that regard |

Yeah that stack of picks they traded for Varlamov didn't help his search.
Also, Hishon suffering the major concussion and missing two years was kind of a kick in the nuts. |

That was a brutal hit, but yes he's done well with picking out talent in the middle rounds. It is a good move to bring him in to help for the long haul. |

So who does Edmonton hire as coach? They probably need a hard-nosed guy to shift their locker room atmosphere from frat house to professional locker room, at least for a few years. They need someone to develop their youth and instill a team mentality. Honestly Terry Murray sounds like the guy they need for the next couple years. |

Walrus from Ottawa.
Should be Lowe and MacT on the way out though. So many coaches turned over, you'd think the message was clear that it isn't the issue. |

Todd Nelson will be their new coach. He was coaching the Oklahoma City farm team and was elevated to the NHL today. The media is guessing by January he's the new coach. |

Well, if we just gave everyone in the USA a gun, then we'd all be much better off.
Right?
If Michael Brown was able to have a gun, he'd still be alive. - jmatchett383
Absolutely. Look how great things are now, then add more guns! |

Don't know a ton about him. Played in NHL. Teams have been good at UHL and AHL level |

Not sure if true but one site has him similar to Trotz in style of play.
“Barry’s a very big influence on me, he said. “I thought Barry was ahead of his time when he coached us in Portland – ahead of his time meaning he had good structure to his game plan when I didn’t really have a lot of it my first three years.” |

Does his hire mean someone left? Because for all of Homer's issues the scouting staff he employed over the last three years has done a phenomenal job.

Who, 2real?
He's found several good prospects in the 2nd-4th rounds, most notably Ryan O'Reilly and Tyson Barrie.
The Avalanche also had four guys in the Subway Super Series. They have some pretty solid young depth in their system and Pracey is a big part of that. - Jsaquella
O'Reilly has fallen off the earth this year and i haven't heard anything about barrie since he got his knee blown out |

In the work people who might not like one another have to remain professional and I assume in the office of every NHL team the situation should be no different. I also have to wonder how much contact the Coaches and the scouts have with one another. |

They didn't even officially announce the hire. Pracey's name just popped up on the website as a scout.
I agree that, overall, the last three draft classes are really solid looking. Only negative is the reach for Goulbourne, but he's played well as an overager and could still be a guy they sign and get something out of. |

Barrie is currently tied with Karlsson and Yandle for 9th in Dmen scoring (2nd in points on the Avalanche) |

When the coach comes in and takes over the scouting director's job, then I can understand why the scouting director would leave, especially one as highly regarded as Pracey is.
People with a skill set in demand can often leave a situation they don't like and get another job with little trouble. |

Yup, Goulbourne is a total stinker of a pick. They've more than made up for it outside the draft with Bob, Read, Raffl and PEB. |
