Yup, Goulbourne is a total stinker of a pick. They've more than made up for it outside the draft with Bob, Read, Raffl and PEB. - hereticpride
Had he been a 5th rounder, it would have been a great pick. The other issue is, there were several, very highly touted kids on the board when he went. |

Ben Bishop didn't come out for the 2nd period tonight and isn't on the bench - Jsaquella
With Roloson finishing off the game tonight, I wonder if we'll see Vasilevskiy tomorrow |

That'd put him at 7th among our 12 forwards. He is also the most undisciplined forward in the league so far this year, getting his 23rd minor penalty of the season this game. |

So I was just poking through some stats, and apparently Steve Downie has already racked up 114 PIMs this year for the pens. |

I personally would have took him on at a million for a year or two again. I thought he was good considering but there was something wrong with him after suffering two or three concussions. There isn't much I would have changed from last season's team outside of Hall who didn't have thelegs aanymore. |

I saw that. Goubourne is playing well for Kelowna as a over ager. That's all I got |

Still could be a capable bottom 6 player just should have never been selected in the first 6 rounds of any draft. |

I am actually very happy he's gone. He's one type of player that the organization is trying to get away from. If we signed him for god forbid 2 years, he would be a constant topic of anger and frustration in this forum and the fan base as a whole. He has more than double the minor penalties of our most penalized player, and a league leading 5 misconduct penalties. He's the only player in the league with more than 2 misconduct penalties, and he's got (frank)in 5 of them. Not worth the 5 goals he's scored playing with the best playmakers in the league. |

Oh please, there is no pleasing this group regardless. Most focus on the bad and ignore everything else. Downie's penalty minutes isn't slowing down the Pens and getting us away from those types of players is doing very little for us now. Round peg, square hole. |

He played well for the Flyers, until the ear/concussion issues.
That said, this season he's been very undisciplined. I have no issue with the decision to not keep him. Losing Downie is not why the Flyers have struggled |

Maybe he'd play fine here on a cheap deal. I'd just rather carry a bottom-6 two-way guy with speed than a grinder like Downie. I'd take Bellemare/Raffl every time over Downie. |

Lack of speed has always been an issue, lack of toughness in my opinion is becoming one. |

I think speed has proven itself essential to win, and while toughness is important, I'm not sure toughness has proven itself essential to winning. Teams like Chicago and LA aren't especially tough, or at least they aren't prided on their toughness. They're prided on speed, two-way play, and hard work (especially in the corners), while being able to bring a necessary but balanced level of toughness. Hard work in the corners and toughness can be confused a bit, I think, but the hard work is more important than the natural toughness. I'll be fine if we're "soft" and only have a couple regular fighters, I just want to see a team that more regularly works hard in the corners and keeps it's feet moving. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 60-70% of all of Jake Voracek's self created scoring chances resulted from his world class puck possession and hard work in the corners. If he could teach that to every other guy on the team then we'd at least double our chances at a deep playoff run. |

The LA Kings are definitely not a weak team and they're definitely bigger then us. They play a physical game. |
