The next thing will almost certainly be a trade, unless MacTavish is, himself, replaced. - johndewar
If I was an Oilers fan, I would not want Mac T making ANY moves at all. Ride the season out and replace him. |

Rank these 4 in order from best to worst: Eagles' defense, Flyers' defense, Phillies' defense, Sixers' defense. - jmatchett383
Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Sixers which doesn't say much cause the eagles defense sucks |

I think he will get a chance after the TDL if the team moves a veteran. But the depends on where the Flyers are at, at that time. He would have probably been called up over Gostisbehre and Manning if not for the injury. - J35Bacher
They actually did call him up before Ghost, and then they inexplicably sent him down and put Ghost in. |

So, that's this year's "No, Claude's not being affected by his offseason hand injury at all", when we all damn well knew there was something up just by watching him.
Matt Read playing better lately has been fun to watch. Forgot how much I liked him, as a player, he had been so invisible. |

I thought the team policy was the coach isn't allowed to discuss injuries. |

So it's better to be a bubble team as opposed to the 4th worst team in the league? Is this the Edmonton rule? Cause if so, they're doing it wrong. - wolfhounds
If it's inverse order of points, then it's better to have fewer points. |

That's why im glad they have several of them. They've given themselves a good chance of finding a top pairing guy and a couple of top 4 guys - PhillySportsGuy
People probably don't wanna hear this, but outside of Hanifin there are several really strong dmen currently ranked where the Flyers will probably land in the draft... most notably Werenski, Kylington, Provorov and Roy. I'd be totally OK if they BAP'd their way to yet another dman, one with around as much upside as Sanheim, if not more. |

Bill, I know I'm biased, but I'd disagree on your assessment that Sanheim is as good as or better than Fleury.
I feel Fleury has a bit better mobility for his size, though they're very similar. - BINGO!
Sanheim can fly. I've seen all or parts of every Calgary game this season. Sanheim has tremendous wheels. Just needs to fill out that frame, because he is still very gangly.

looks like you guys just hired Rick Pracey as an amateur scout. As long as he doesn't become a director of scouting should be a good move |

Didn't Pracey do pretty well there in getting talent? Why was he fired? |

glad to see Matt Read healthy again (hopefully). He looked lost out there, and it was clear he lost a step. Glad it was an injury and not pure degression of skill. |

Not really, in 6 years of drafting, outside the lottery picks. Only ROR, Barrie, and now Pickard have made nhl debuts. Lots of very very questionable picks by him and his staff
That's a lot of bad picks. He had his draft board set as Drouin, Barkov, Jones, MacKinnon before Roy came on board and said we are taking MacK and that's that |

In 6 years of drafting, they were in the lottery 3 times, right?.....I'm not sure how much of a conclusion you draw from that period of time with the franchise.
This sounds like more like a case of Sakic and Roy wanting their own guy in there. |

So Edmonton fires Eakins and MacT steps in for now...
The wheels on the bus go round and round
From 5 cups in 7 seasons to the NHLs biggest joke.
If their owner has a clue he should fire the entire front office after this season and start over fresh, what a mess! |

Ride out the season.. battle the Canes for last pick, then gut front office and have new staff make some player moves. It's the smart thing to do for that Sht show |

Indeed. Phantoms will be keeping him until the WJC starts, though. I think I read he's joining Sweden on 12/21. |

Dunno, track record seems about as good/bad as any other scouting group. Only real 1st-round bust has been Siemens. Can you really blame them for what happened w/ Hishon?
Pickard and Bigras are looking pretty good outside of the 1st-round... Bournival's made it to the show as a 3rd-rounder... ROR and Barrie as you mentioned. The post-1st track record is actually pretty decent under Pracey. Flyers would gladly take some of that. |

yeah Roy and Pracey didn't see eye to eye with their evaluation of talent.
But Joey Hishon in the first round (ranked something like mid to late 2nd round pick at the time), Duncan Siemens from 2011 is the only D in the first round (11 selected) not to make an NHL debut yet.
Swings and misses on some really high picks. And no 2nd rounders making the team besides ROR. (Elliott, Heard, Cohen, Guance, Stoa)
Big reason why this team is struggling right now, when you have to fill your bottom 6 and 3/4 of your d pairings with UFAs and Trades, you are just setting yourself up for older, slower, and over priced role players. |
