Dunno, track record seems about as good/bad as any other scouting group. Only real 1st-round bust has been Siemens. Can you really blame them for what happened w/ Hishon?
Pickard and Bigras are looking pretty good outside of the 1st-round... Bournival's made it to the show as a 3rd-rounder... ROR and Barrie as you mentioned. The post-1st track record is actually pretty decent under Pracey. Flyers would gladly take some of that. - Tomahawk
Highs and Lows with him, until Picks showed up this year, it was looking pretty terrible.
Now it looks terrible that they traded a 2nd round pick for Berra bc they felt none of their goalies were ready to be an NHL back up |

Big reason why this team is struggling right now, when you have to fill your bottom 6 and 3/4 of your d pairings with UFAs and Trades, you are just setting yourself up for older, slower, and over priced role players. - DDM-Coga
I have no idea what that would look like...

You should keep all of your kids in the minors as long as possible. There's pixie dust down there. Makes them great NHLers. This is a fact. I read it. |

Even the lottery picks... gotta give them credit for taking Landeskog and passing on Larsson and Huberdeau (whom most had going #2 and 3 respectively). |

Ride out the season.. battle the Canes for last pick, then gut front office and have new staff make some player moves. It's the smart thing to do for that Sht show - 3flyerkids
But then we have the same old story... they'd take McDavid at #1... another forward that will go to the graveyard because Edmonton doesn't build a team, they just take whatever top pick is available to them when they pick.
Although it will inevitably happen anyway (them drafting one of the top spots), they need to start with the "gut the front office" and go from there. Get a GM in there who will actually work on building all aspects it takes to make a team... I'll give MacT the benefit of the doubt, since he hasn't been in there for too long yet... but this whole organization needs to change it's tune, starting from the top down. They've been the joke of the league for years now.. aren't they getting sick of it?? |

Landy is a huge win on that one, same as Duchene over E.Kane
Really nailed those top picks. Easily could have been E.Kane, Huberdeau, and Jones. |

developing talent is hard, why do that when you can just burn draft picks I trades to get it |

Could you see them drafting McDavid then trading RNH to Nashville for a Seth Jones package? |

That's what I tossed out there. Trading the pick to Nash for Jones and a guy like Colin Wilson (ask for Forsberg and settle for less) |

We've 1 second round pick in like 22 years.
We didn't keep a number one for 5 yrs or something ridiculous. |

I would think someone would be going... possibly RNH, or Eberle, or maybe even Hall... but who knows with Edmonton.. What they SHOULD do, is trade one of them for a D package... but I highly doubt NSH would do Seth Jones for RNH+... However, I would move one of those forwards for a defensemen if I could.. |

That secondary (especially the corners) is about as bad as it gets.

Same here... but I wouldn't put much faith in their organization.. and also, it depends on him to a point. He could really act like a little female-dog if he wanted out, and pretty much force their hand.
But yeah.. if it's up to me, he's the piece you build around... |

The building block is clearly Justin Schultz. He's like Shea Weber without the slapshot, hockey sense, reach, physicality, mean streak, size, and positioning. |

Giving up Jones for McDavid would be very tempting since they Have Josi, Ellis, and Ekholm to go with Weber. It could be a move that they could afford. |

I don't think the team with that #1 overall trades it for anything less than a proven superstar. I think the package going for it has to be Weber, not Jones. You're likely talking a Lindros-sized haul. |
