I think in most cases the abuser has the victim in a place mentally where they find little value in themselves and believe that they are totally reliant on that person for their very existence. At that point the abuser can treat them any way they want without fear of intervention because how and why would they go on if they lost them. That's why you see so many times the victim refusing to press charges because they can't imagine existing outside of the relationship. They think they would be worse off not being abused.

It's sick that it goes on so much around us. If you don't know anyone who's been in an abusive relationship than you should count yourself lucky. I know far too many women and men who suffer in silence and there's really no helping them for the most part. Even when you give them shelter and support they still go back. It's a terrible thing.

Its sad. They investigated a bunch of domestic dispute\abuse charges involving pro athletes a few months or years down the road and over 95% of these women drop the charges. A much higher rate than those who aren't married to millionaires.

Voynov apparently did all of this to her and she wanted the charges dropped the same night. So sad.
