Yes, but the hardest thing to find is that franchise #1 elite defender. If you build a solid enough team around him, you can win with a Nikolai Khabibulin or a J.S. Giguere or an Anttii Niemi...good, quality starters but not elite goalies. - jmatchett383
Im just saying that based on need at this point i would rather get rinne and weber vs weber and forseberg...they have enough forwards, why add forseberg? |

Realistically, Bettman can do anything that the CBA doesn't explicitly says he CAN'T do. - jmatchett383

Thinking Bettman cancels it? Coincidentally, I only just found out he could do that while surfing through the summary of terms a couple days ago while sorting some PDFs. - BulliesPhan87
There's lots of "moral clauses" written into an SPC. If he's convicted, I think the contract will be terminated. |

They don't have enough forwards, actually. They have Hall, RNH, Eberle, and Yaks. That's 1 superstar, 1 good center, 1 overrated but still good winger, and one player "full of potential." I think that you could add more parts (Ellis/Josi and/or 1st rounder) with Forsberg than with Rinne. |

If that happened, Voynov wouldn't be out of work long. |

You think someone will sign him when he's been convicted of a felony? I guess it would depend on what his sentence is. |

I should've been clearer. I'm thinking along the lines that he serves some time. When he gets out, sure. |

Work release? - jmatchett383
idk how that works, but if/when he's found guilty, I imagine it would really bother a lot of people if he was allowed to pursue his career while serving his sentence |

I sure as hell don't want the flyers signing him. Don't care how desperate we are for a defenseman |

Seriously tho... all his wife has to do is not cooperate w/ the investigation/trial and/or change her story completely and he's probably out of the woods. |

That goes back to my question of team character. What if the Flyers won a Cup, but to do it, they had to fill the roster with the likes of Ulf Samuelsson, Dan Carcillo, Matthew Barnaby, Sean Avery, etc (assume they all are currently playing in the NHL). Would you be okay with it? |

Being an bumhole on the ice is different than beating a woman half to death.
Eagles are desperate for a QB but I wouldn't want them to draft Winston even if he was available to them at their draft slot. I think he's going to be good too. |

Outside of Philadelphia, some would say that's exactly how they won the Cup in the '70's. Watch that Broad Street Bullies documentary that HBO put out; fans and writers outside of Philly were genuinely happy the Habs beat the Flyers in '76.
Now, I know how many skilled guys those teams had, but all anyone else thinks about is the fights. |

But Tibbetts has much more use to the Flyers than Voynov.
Non skilled goons > competent defensemen. "Flyers logic" |

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. There's lots of states that have different rules where a lot of times, that may not matter. Have to let it play out.
