I'm curious to know what baggage we speak of. Care to elaborate.
Thanks. - ImThatGuy
the baggage is the Chara and Pronger expectations that everyone else has put on him that he isn't "living up to" |

One big thing that is being over looked..
Risto/Zads have been our 3rd pairing and are playing against other teams checking lines for the most part... Myers/Gorges have been against every team's top lines and Myers STILL is averaging most than 27 ATOI. - JVince11
I have no problems with myers, for the first time since the flyers series |

Before last season Tyler Hall had been a .75-.80 PPG guy.. then last season he exploded with a 50+ assist season.
I don't think he is what you are making him out to be quite yet. Maybe it is playing with those guys that are harnessing him a little but he is NOT the 30+ goal scorer that you guys are claiming. - JVince11
He hasn't entered his prime yet. Keep that in mind. |

I thought risto bounced back nice in the third period on saturday
are you drinking the blue and gold kool aid, I am close to tasting it - homiedclown
I could go for a feel good story... and it be the Sabres. Find a way to make the playoffs while the rest of the league was convinced Tim and Teddy were in full on tank mode.
This is enjoyable. I still am waiting for the floor to drop out from under them though. I think Sabres and Bills fans are realists. Convinced the floor will drop out, because things rarely go well for the Sabres and Bills. lol |

Problem is everyone thinks all these young players we have are "great", we don't know this as of yet. To much a a love fest with cetain players on the team or the AHL, why bother to get rid of Darcy if we going to stay the same corse? change has to start, it's been long enough. |

the sabres games are fun to watch and I have not enjoyed watching the sabres since the briere/drury days
the bills.........................
the coaching sucks and the gm missed the boat by not addressing the qb right. This bills d is better than the super bowl years |

I've been sniffing it... I'm infuriatingly even keel on this stuff.
Positive:
I love the resiliency. I said this was the most likable Sabres team since 2005, if not before.
We are winning with young talent - they should ostensibly improve. And getting them a taste for winning early cannot be a bad thing.
Our upcoming schedule is very manageable.
We have already stockpiled a good farm - if a few of these guys exceed expectations (Risto, Girgensons, Zadorov) then we might not need the superstar guy as much as we thought.
Negative:
The "way" we are winning should not be sustainable. That said, we've sustained winning for a month, which I admit is beyond my expectations.
At least in the beginning of this streak there were teams that were frankly taking us lightly (look at the 1st vs 2nd game vs Tampa) and paid for it.
The worst thing that can happen this year is to finish 1-2 spots out of the playoffs. |

At the beginning of the season it was how we expected... Enroth was good for a few.. then awful... then Neuvirth took over for a week or two.. then back and forth again.
It is great to see them being a solid 1B and 2B combo though. |

My last post on Myers because to be frank, I am sick of a mediocre talent monopolizing what very little time I do have for hockey talk.
What is alarming to me is the love affair some of y'all have with an average defenseman at best.
My opinion of course.
I'm out. |

Just to pick one part out for the sake of another topic, if Grigorenko can pitch in with a few points over a handful of games, does he stay up with the team for this continued push we're seeing? Can easily drop Kaleta out when Mitchell comes back. |

If he's genuinely meshing and contributing, then absolutely. If he scores 2 goals off his ass and looks lost for the most part, no. |

That's what I thought just wanted to be sure.
Well some of it may be justified, I think the other 50-70% was unrealistic expectations of the guy, coupled with terrible coaching from Ron Rolston. |

I'd love nothing more than to see Grigo do that...
I do think that they want him and Armia to be working together on the same page 100% in Rochester this year to create chemistry to bring them up here next year though. Who knows.
As soon as Stewart and/or Stafford are traded then he will be a mainstay here I think. |

Yeah, I think so too. Going along with the "youngsters are geling" aspect of things, it would be great to see it become mumps-like and infect him when called up. |

I am sorry, but again this is false. HH, you have got to be better than this. Myers is a good D-man. To say he is a mediocre talent is bad.
I get you all want him to punch guys in the face, because he is tall, but that is not, and will never be who he is. |

Armia's hurt, so right now he won't be missing out on that chemistry building, but I think a good 1/3rd-ish of the season where they already built that chemistry is sufficient to maintain the player with the real team if he's performing (even if it's not great on the stat sheet).
Besides, they're bound to have more injuries, so Armia could always fill in later on a callup. |

A few thoughts:
Everyone said that Moulson was only good because of Tavares. That may be true but he's found his guy in Ennis.
The Sabres went shorthanded on Foligno's penalty with that scrum in front of the net in the third down a goal. Initially I was pissed. But what I like about Nolan's teams is they aren't afraid to do what they have to do, then still have the ability to come back on win. Old Sabres teams that was a game death sentence. |

Mediocre? C'mon Hard Hat. The same few that disdain Nolan are not Myers fans. You need to re-route your hostility. Nolan is the one that has really endorsed Myers play with all the minutes he is playing him. He is letting Myers do what he is best at. He is not the physical beast all the Haters want So what . He is playing smart. Watch his stick work . watch how he keeps the other teams best players away from the dirty scoring areas. All the shots are coming from the perimeter where our goalies can see them coming. |
