Coburns possession numbers have been climbing recently. Better be careful or Berube might need to sit him - PhillySportsGuy
Nah, he's LH, over 6'1, 200. Doesn't meet the criteria. |

i know he would fetch the most, but he isnt who i would look to move from their ranks.
yak, eberle, and RNH would all be looked at first before i moved hall. |

But it's not like the Flyers didn't renew his contract or put him on waivers. - johndewar
They let him go... to the KHL, to where ever. They let him go. They made no attempt to keep him in North America then they covered their asset. |

They aren't moving RNH just because he's a center. He'll be the last to go I think. I don't believe any of the Dregger nonsense when he's talking about Canadian teams. He can get the scoop when something comes down but his insight is tainted. |

So Lucky you guys get to meet all of these players...Let me guess did you goto country club diner? A lot of flyers used to go there after practice...My friends father owned that place and they would sit guys in the back for privacy - PhillaBully
No.... but I was there years ago. The Forsberg lunch was at a strip mall Italian restaurant right near the Skate Zone. |

I wouldn't do it... not because I think the deal stinks (common, Vinny?), or because I don't feel like Hall is a terrific hockey player (he is)... I just get the feeling that he's not destined to have a very long career, with the way he plays. |

yeah true about RNH. but, if they end up getting mcdavid, it could make him expendable. draisitl (butchered, i know) projects to be the bigger number 2 guy. and as a center, i think RNH could fetch a pretty decent return.
i ultimately dont think they move anyone, and theyll make their pick and reassess from there. i dont think they should sell for pennies on the dollar, but i really do think they need to do something. |

Injuries remain my biggest concern with Hall. He's a machine when healthy, but he plays hard and physically. He'd still be a good player if he didn't play that style, but he's an out and out stud when he does. |

I would actually trade Hall if I were the Oilers. He's the one player who could really bring back a huge return. The other guys will bring back a group of depth players or an equally struggling high draft pick. Might as well hang on to the struggling guys and hope they turn things around. Guys like Perron and Eberle can be moved but they won't be bringing back top prospects or top 10 draft picks. |

if you have a gut feeling that he is going to be out of the league in 4 years time, then yeah i guess that is a factor that is hard to really account for on paper.
but just evaluating the deal. taking vinny literally is an addition for the flyers, so thats how I mark that one up. In dealing with players of such magnitude, pieces like cousins or a third, while not totally worthless, are predominantly filler. hagg, i hear mixed things about, but for all intensive purposes seems to be in the B plus prospect range. nothing earth shattering to lose, but decent nonetheless. and laughton is a very nice prospect, already showing to be NHL ready and pretty much fitting the bill of what the oilers need.
pieces like simmonds, coots, and even morin arent even involved here, and you are adding an elite, front line player under relatively decent cost controlled term for essentially the rest of giroux's prime. |

if there is truth to this whole uncoachable nonsense, then that is worrisome. obviously im not in the room with the guys, but everything i see from hall on the ice indicates a guy that will run through a wall (as youve correctly mentioned, sometimes to his own detriment) for his team. |

I would make the trade simply because I'd feel I could flip him for a better group of players/prospects.
Flyers would be happy to have a scoring winger but he's not the biggest need. They need depth and young defenseman. The one thing they don't really need help with is the top line. |

You can't worry about injury. That could happen to any player. His load would be lesser here responsibility wise. Those kids are trying to lead that team. The oilers are a bigger mess than any team I've ever seen. If you take a hard look at that club over the last 15 yrs, they've done just about everything wrong. |

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 12/16/14 vs. TB, Peter Forsberg Night, Holiday Toy Drive - bmeltzer
Nice Foppa story Bill. He was one of my favorite players even when in Colorado. Incredible combination of grit and skill. I still remember in the summer of '05 opening the Flyers web page and seeing that the Flyers had signed him as a UFA. I literally fell off my chair. I thought it was going to really set the team up well as we'd been to the Semis in '04 and he and Primeau 1-2 centres would be unstoppable.. didn't exactly work out hahah. |

I love Laughton, and I'm higher on Hagg than most, but I'd probably make that deal.
Look at the organization he's been under...poorly run team, where nobody plays good fundamental hockey...I'll take Hall, give him structure and room to play his game, and watch the 50 goals go in |

definitely a mode of thinking worth exploring.
i was just limiting my evaluation to purely the players involved, but i agree. it would benefit the flyers the most to get hall and then flip him for a young defender. id have to think the list of suitors would be long.
adding hall to the flyers would allow for voracek to really be given his own line, or for the creation of a second line built around hall. but i do think youre right. the net gain would be the biggest to move hall for a defender. he would provide a much greater return than the package moved for him could garner. |
