When did NHL hockey become something that can only be truly understood by looking at spreadsheets?
Anyway the question is moot because we have as exact a comparable as we could possibly get for what Hall would likely yield in a deal, and that is what the Bruins got for Seguin. - Snowblind
Pretty accurate assessment there. Only thing I could say is Seguin was drafted as a center and projected to be that, and had a stanley cup on his resume when he was traded. Should have yielded a much better return then it did. Florida is intriguing as was mentioned because they have some great pieces. I cant see Florida giving up Bjugstad for Hall though... He's playing lights out and big scoring centers are hard to find. |

Agreed.. If Hall publicly asks for a trade.. You need to trade him.. I still think Phaneuf, Kadri, Fredrick Gauthier and a 20154 1st rd pick is enough to get him - PatC80
again... he is Edmonton's best player. if Edmonton was looking at a trade with Toronto, it would be names like Rielly and JVR. not to mention that first rounder is more than 18,000 years into the future. |

But what I'm saying is a return like that would be unacceptable for Hall. It has to be from the Oilers standpoint! Hornquist hit 30 goals once, Neal hit 40. Neal and Hall both have the same number of points right now but Neal has more goals playing with a worse center. Hall is the better player and the only way you trade him is to get a top enter of dman(which they probably wont get) so it makes a lot more sense to hang on to him. - mnhockeyguy
But that wasn't what you said at all.. you said that Neal brought back a bad return, which actually isn't true at all... he actually brought back a great return. Comparing Horny putting up 30 in NSH to Neal putting up 40 in PIT is a terrible comparison. Who was his center when he put up 30? Craig Smith? Mike Fisher? Sorry, no disrespect to them, they are good hockey players, but they're no Evgeni Malkin... |

With even average goaltending Eakins still has a job and the Oilers are in the lower middle of the pack.
The only way I would trade Hall would be for a young but proven true number 1 goalie.
Guys like:
Carey Price
Tuuka Rask ( although he is having a bad year)
Jonathan Bernier ( not yet proven so need more than him)
Pekka Rinne
Does Edmonton have a strong goalie prospect in the system? If so no deal |

Good lord, you guys.
I'd say that the offers you people are proposing for Hall are all over the map, but that would imply that some of you can even SEE a map. |

Not saying Bernier is a Rhodes scholar, but if he can stop the puck I don't care. |

Except at the point Seguin was traded he hadn't achieved what Hall has now achieved...he hadn't proven to be a ppg player yet. But yah i would agree thats probably as close as we can get within recent history. |
