A lot of the talk on here is like that. People enjoy kicking trade proposals around, and subsequently laughing at the terrible proposals those other fan bases bring forward. |

I think the Avs would have to retain at least 1m of RORs cap hit to make it work, that clears things up. They have the ability to retain quiet a bit this year

And people act like the oilers will trade hall for maatta/sutter/1st right now I wouldn't do it in the first place anyway
Bottom line we are not getting Hall, chill people. RW nice job turning the HB people into lunatics - znagle
Yeah, I'd do that deal in a minute. Which means the Oilers would laugh at it. To break it down even further. Sutter is an UFA after next year. There's a very good chance he won't sign long term with them. So basically they'd be moving Hall for one guaranteed year of Sutter, a broken Maatta and a late 1st rounder.
I have no problem moving some depth for the right players, but I don't think it's realistic to discuss "face of franchise" type players. |

Bro you're on a hockey site that was started on rumors. You are acting like people are nuts then you throw out dumb ass names that make no sense trade wise. So keep thinking you're smarter then the average when you're just as dumb as the rest of us |

Holy poop this thread was huge today...
So, apparently the rumor mill on Hall possibly being on the trade block so Edmonton can "rebuild their rebuilding process" might be real.
I see Maatta being thrown out alot, along with Sutter and a plus to that. I honestly just don't think a team would want Maatta after this possibly reinjury to his shoulder, but thats my opinion. I would trade Maatta, Sutter, and another player/draft pick for Hall. Even though a lot of us wanting to bring up these young D to replace older ones applied to all EXCEPT Maatta, its still the same principle. You lock in Hall, he will most likely go with Crosby and Horny, Malkin sticks with Kunitz and Comeau, or another they bring in. 3rd Line will be more than fine with Goc, Downie, Spaling. 4th is still IMMENSELY better than last season with Klink, Adams, Rust (I am assuming Rust for now).
Most likely near the exact same has been said, but I was late to this party.
Also, gif time.

So... MAF, Bortz and Maatta not feeling well and being tested for mumps. So did we figure this goes back to us playing the Rags and Tanner Ass? Dude is still ruining this team. |

I say nay...
I'd just rather not trade Sutter during the season to help the top 6. No doubt Eberle makes the top 6 better, but Goc makes the 3rd line worse.
I'm content on making a relatively cheap deal for a rental like Stafford, Tlusty, Ryder, etc., and have a strong third line for the playoffs.

I'm not on fox news? Geeze I think I got alzheimers early.
So I guess I'm as dumb as the everyone else for wanting to get rid of our depth for two lines and for actually taking the cap into consideration. You proved your point man wow I'm so dumb.
Keep thinking an injured Maatta will get you a top winger though |

Probably a fair proposal, but I'm really loving the way Despres is playing. He's definitely the type of player we've been missing for years. |

I would do a healthy maatta for ebs, maybe we throw in a mid pick or two. Seems like an even deal to me.
I agree on the Stafford, Tlusty, Ryder, etc situation, and most likely the pens will go down that route of players |

LMAO and that is why the Oilers are destined for continued futility..... sometimes you don't hold the cards and have to make a deal just to shake things up.
You're getting a proven 3/4 20 year old Dman in Maatta
A solid Defensive Center, which after giving up 3+ goals a game, looks like you need some forwards who want to play D and not just TRY and score.
Scott Harrington and Brian Dumoulin would be everyday starters in Edmonton... just because they can't crack a stacked Penguins line up doesn't mean they aren't NHL ready.
But hey... what do we pens fans know about continued stability and success. - Yonk1216

I'm sure this has been stated, but I don't think they need to break the bank to get a guy like Taylor Hall. A 2nd tier top 6 winger would be more than sufficient. As Blake Comeau has proven this year, it's less about skill than it is fitting in with these elite centers. Look for the type of guys who compliment them. I really think that Jiri Tlusty would be a perfect fit with 71 that wouldn't break the bank. Since he's an expiring contract, you don't need to raid the cupboard to get him. Plus you have a good chance of re-signing him since Rutherford is the GM that last signed him. |

I think it depends if Sutter is a second or third line center. I understand he's down on third line because he's on the Pens. But if he's really just a third line center, than the Oilers would likely pass. |

Edmonton should do it however. Sutter is capable of being a second line center and Despres is developing quickly. |

He has proven he can play second line, first as well since sid has been out. I think he can easily be a 2c. Plays every situation, great on draw, solid defensively and pretty good offensively. We won't move him this year, maybe next year when his contract will be up after the season and sundwvist will be ready. For now he is too valuable to our depth, something management has stressed in the new regime. |

Don't go to the HF boards then. It might be worse than this board when it comes to trade ideas. Then again, alot of the same venture over there. |
